What if the X-Files was a computer game from the '80s? Get ready for Bahnsen Knights

When it comes to horror something about the '80s just hits harder. The look, the music, the feel—the 1980s is just the perfect era for creepy stuff. Developer LCB Game Studio seems to have recognized that, which is why its next game, Bahnsen Knights, is both set in 1986 and looks like a PC game that could have been released right around that same time. Bahnsen Knights is actually the latest in a series of games from LCB Game Studio and publisher Chorus Worldwide Games known as Pixel Pulps. These adventure games use stylized retro graphics and music to tell unsettling horror stories. In the case of Bahnsen Knights, that story revolves around Boulder, an undercover agent who has been sent to

A GAME YOU REFUSE TO PLAY AGAIN FOR AN ODD REASON?

At some point, there has been at least one game that you have come to the conclusion that you didn't wish to play any longer for a reason. Even if the game in question was one that you enjoyed playing for extended periods of time throughout various years, one day it all came to an end with you never playing it again. Story Childhood It was the year 2004, three years after the Nintendo Gamecube had been released. By this point, the majority of gamers around the world had already moved on to the more exciting consoles that were available since Nintendo to most felt more childlike, especially the the disappointment from the release of

Check out Heaven Dust’s loving chibi homage to Resident Evil - Pocket Playfest

I’ve been playing Resident Evil games since the series really hit its stride with 1998’s Resident Evil 2, so when a game comes along that clearly loves and manages to capture what made that series special, it’s automatically on my radar. Based on my time with the demo version of Heaven Dust, it manages to do just that, with a mobile-friendly spin on survival horror that’s clearly deeply in debt to the first

Dead Effect 2 ( early access ) | Android 2026

Developed by BadFly Interactive, Dead Effect 2 arrived on Xbox One and PC in 2016, immediately establishing itself as one of the most ambitious sci-fi shooters on the indie scene. After the studio's demise around 2020, the game was subsequently acquired by App Holdings on the Google Play Store in 2026. 1) 📝 STORYLINE: The story of Dead Effect 2 takes place aboard the gigantic spaceship ESS Meridian, a scientific laboratory transformed into a futuristic hellscape. The protagonist awakens after a long hibernation to discover that the entire crew has been infected by biological mutations, cybernetic zombies, and genetically altered creatures. During the adventure, you are guided by various artificial intelligences and survivors, trying to uncover the cause of the disaster. The plot blends horror, science fiction, and illegal military experimentation, recalling atmospheres similar to Dead Space and DOOM.  As you progress, scientific conspiracies, human DNA experiments, and forbidden technologies emerge that have transformed the Meridian into a death trap. The campaign is surprisingly long for a mobile title, with main missions, side quests, and numerous voiced dialogues that make the experience more cinematic.

Uncover creepy radio signals in this sci-fi horror game - Oxenfree II: Lost Signals Quick Review

PLAY IT OR SKIP IT? Play it if you’re a fan of sci-fi, analog horror, or just like narrative-focused games. Oxenfree II: Lost Signals is a direct sequel to the original Oxenfree, but it’s surprisingly friendly to newcomers. Set five years after the first game, Lost Signals follows two brand-new characters: small town handyman Jacob and stoic screw-up Riley. There are moments that will hit harder if you’ve played the original, but it’s not overly reliant on old material, and it should make for a satisfying experience even if you treat it as a standalone game.

PSYCHOPOMP GOLD — IT ISN'T A SEQUEL SADLY

If you love it, support it. I didn't like it very much cause I was expecting something that wasn't just a slightly remastered version of the original. I'll still support the dev, I still like what the original had to offer and the rest of the content that was added in is sure to appeal to the die hard fans, but this wasn't for me and I don't think it would be for most people, who want more than the free version offers.

Get sent on a roguelike mission from the Vatican in stylish horror shooter Witchfire

Developer The Astronauts hasn't put out a game since 2014's brilliant adventure game The Vanishing of Ethan Carter. Their next project has finally entered early access, though, and it's very cool and very different from their last release...in a good way! The new game is titled Witchfire, and while it shares spooky vibes with The Vanishing of Ethan Carter, the core of the game is a roguelike shooter. If that change sounds jarring, you should know that much of the team at The Astronauts was previously at developer People Can Fly, the studio behind satisfyingly over-the-top shooters like

3 things holding down Redfall (and 3 reasons I might like it anyway)

The biggest console and PC release of this week appears to be something of a mess. Redfall is a co-op-centric looter-shooter that just launched for PC and Xbox Series S and X. It’s the latest game from Microsoft- and Bethesda-owned Arkane Studios, a developer that has created some truly great games such as Prey and the Dishonored series, so it’s understandable why some gamers were hyped for this one.

Civilization’s grand strategy meets QAnon-style conspiracy theories in this wonderful, weird game

SHOULD I PLAY THE FABULOUS FEAR MACHINE? Definitely give this game a shot if you enjoy pulp comics and grand strategy games. The Fabulous Fear Machine was created by Fictorama Studios, the same developers behind the equally unhinged and enjoyable Do Not Feed the Monkeys games. Like that game, The Fabulous Fear Machine is all about being in charge of a force with the power to shape the world. This time, though, you control that force on a much broader scale, slowly spreading your dark influence across a series of regional maps. It’s a brilliant twist that blends together

Cryptic Route

In 'Cryptic Route,' you find yourself as the protagonist driving through a rainy night forest without realizing there's no reason behind it. In the passenger seat, there may only be a shovel and a charger, and there's nothing you can do about any affiliations or missions that might have a future. The only thing you can rely on is the organized navigation system in the car. With each turn, you face eerie and unsettling situations, making critical decisions that determine the outcome of your journey. The game's multiple ending system ensures that every choice you make leads to different outcomes, preventing any hindrance results. #SpookyKookyHorrorGames

I've play a ton of horror games and most of the time, they resort to cheap jump-scares and having a bad atmosphere. But when I saw this game, I was stunned. Unlike most horror games, you are fixed in a tiny office, looking through cameras to see where the animatronic robots are. What's makes this even more creepy is that the story takes place in a kids pizza parlor where animatronic robots are based on character's from the pizza parlor. This game will scare you and leave you scared for the rest of the night.

MOUTHWASHING - A GENUINELY GREAT HORROR STORY

It's that time of the year again, when we start to get a taste of horror from many different angles. Sometimes all you need is a simple concept, reminiscent of the age when Horror was at it's peak in gameplay design and execution during the Playstation 1 rise. Mouthwashing is a lot of things... It's short, atmospheric, exhilarating, and highly captivating in terms of drawing you closer to each character while simultaneously making you feel detached from them in unexpected ways.

Artifact Seeker: Prologue is a stylish taste of an upcoming 3D spin on Vampire Survivors

SHOULD I PLAY ARTIFACT SEEKER: PROLOGUE? Definitely play this if you’re curious about Artifact Seeker, an upcoming Vampire Survivors-style game that’s about defeating huge hordes of demons and monsters and collecting artifacts and power-ups for your character. There’s a complicated-looking progression system wrapped around the whole thing, but it’s actually still very simple: this is pretty much a Sega Dreamcast version of Vampire Survivors.

Artifact Seeker:Prologue
Artifact Seeker:Prologue
The protagonist is a composite hungry monster similar to an octopus, which breaking the glass of its containment capsule placed inside a complex research facility, will soon pour into everywhere because in order to live and increase its volume it needs to devour as much human prey as possible by extending its lethal tentacles; it is the result of a failed experiment in a top secret laboratory in the bowels of the earth. The paths and passages will not all be available immediately because the scientists will be shielded by dividing walls that will protect them from our inexorable fury. Furthermore, it emits a terrifying cry, a sort of threatening roar that expands beyond the ravines, hatches and bulkheads, both to channel the humans towards the direction it desires, and to exploit an ability that works like a kind of sonar capable of letting us locate what will be useful for our cause to get out of the impasse.  In some stages it will also be equipped with telekinesis, taking possession of only some of the scientists who will only be able to go up and down the stairs that divide the floors of the building or interact with scattered elements of the scenario, now to solve mini puzzles, now to examine some organic compounds scattered around the areas. The more it grows in volume, the more abilities it acquires such as throwing objects at prey, so watch out for armed guards, especially those with flamethrowers, lethal for our creature. They will try in every way to shrink you and make you helpless.

MONONEKO - A GOREY CUPHEAD STYLED RHYTHM GAME

A game about getting revenge on Yokai and cat murderers on numerous fronts. How much more challenging may this be in the future? That is the primary question here, given that it is barely functioning at times, crashing and failing to award you with gold coins which helps you improve your effects on each run. MonoNeko is both bright and full of dark depictions, with the premise of reviving killed cats and using them as a little army to defeat those who have done this evil act. Putting that notion aside, it was really rather enjoyable, even if it did seem like an very early access game with a lot of room for growth if they decide to actually work on it.

El Paso, Elsewhere is like Max Payne mixed with Blade, and it’s must-play for shooter fans

SHOULD I PLAY EL PASO, ELSEWHERE Uh, yeah, this game absolutely rules. El Paso, Elsewhere blends the intense shooting and slow-mo powers of Max Payne with the supernatural vampire drama of something like Blade or Buffy the Vampire Slayer. That mixture pays off with an action-packed adventure through the underworld and a noir-tinged story that had me rolling with laughter but still managed to have some emotional depth as well. It’s one of my surprise favorites of 2023.

SHOULD I PLAY UNSORTED HORROR? Play it if you like horror games at all. I mean, it’s totally free, what do you have to lose? Unsorted Horror is a compilation of five brief but memorable horror experiences created by developer Mike Klubnika. While the actual gameplay is somewhat minimal here, the sense of atmosphere that Klubnika builds is second to none.
