Lovecraft plus Metroidvania should be a killer combo, but this game has some big problems

PLAY IT OR SKIP IT? Skip it unless you’re a superfan of anything inspired by H.P. Lovecraft or you’re dying for a Metroidvania. The Last Case of Benedict Fox follows a demon-possessed detective who has the ability to jump into the memories of the dead. Using these powers, he’s attempting to find out the dark truth behind what happened to his father, a man heavily involved in occult rituals. It’s a great setup, but the experience is quickly dragged down by clunky controls and frustrating level design.

Check out Heaven Dust’s loving chibi homage to Resident Evil - Pocket Playfest

I’ve been playing Resident Evil games since the series really hit its stride with 1998’s Resident Evil 2, so when a game comes along that clearly loves and manages to capture what made that series special, it’s automatically on my radar. Based on my time with the demo version of Heaven Dust, it manages to do just that, with a mobile-friendly spin on survival horror that’s clearly deeply in debt to the first

The masters of horror deliver a fresh spin on the Amnesia formula - Amnesia: The Bunker Quick Review

PLAY IT OR SKIP IT? Play it, unless you’re too scared. Like previous releases from developer Frictional Games, Amnesia: The Bunker is not for the faint of heart. Some fans worried about the announcement of this fourth game in the Amnesia series, particularly when it was revealed that it would be the first game in the franchise to give players a weapon. Those fears were misplaced, though; the limited ammunition and other defensive options in

Microsoft's biggest first-party failure yet - Redfall review

Last week, I shared a rundown of some of the problems gamers and critics were having with Redfall, the new vampire-focused, co-op looter shooter from Arkane Studios. At the time I was around seven hours into the game, and while some of the issues being raised were obviously legitimate, I was still surprised to be enjoying myself and had some hope that maybe I would like it more than the average on the whole.

Artifact Seeker: Prologue is a stylish taste of an upcoming 3D spin on Vampire Survivors

SHOULD I PLAY ARTIFACT SEEKER: PROLOGUE? Definitely play this if you’re curious about Artifact Seeker, an upcoming Vampire Survivors-style game that’s about defeating huge hordes of demons and monsters and collecting artifacts and power-ups for your character. There’s a complicated-looking progression system wrapped around the whole thing, but it’s actually still very simple: this is pretty much a Sega Dreamcast version of Vampire Survivors.

MOUTHWASHING - A GENUINELY GREAT HORROR STORY

It's that time of the year again, when we start to get a taste of horror from many different angles. Sometimes all you need is a simple concept, reminiscent of the age when Horror was at it's peak in gameplay design and execution during the Playstation 1 rise. Mouthwashing is a lot of things... It's short, atmospheric, exhilarating, and highly captivating in terms of drawing you closer to each character while simultaneously making you feel detached from them in unexpected ways.

Scared of narwhals? Dredge, the cozy fishing horror game, goes to the Arctic in The Pale Reach

SHOULD I PLAY DREDGE: THE PALE REACH? If you dug the creepy, cozy vibes of Dredge, you’ll definitely want to check out the latest DLC. Dredge: The Pale Reach brings this lovecraftian fishing game to colder waters, adding a brand-new icy area to the game. Whether I was catching fish for a mysterious hooded figure, staring at the northern lights, or trying to avoid a surprisingly terrifying narwhal, this DLC really made

A GAME YOU REFUSE TO PLAY AGAIN FOR AN ODD REASON?

At some point, there has been at least one game that you have come to the conclusion that you didn't wish to play any longer for a reason. Even if the game in question was one that you enjoyed playing for extended periods of time throughout various years, one day it all came to an end with you never playing it again. Story Childhood It was the year 2004, three years after the Nintendo Gamecube had been released. By this point, the majority of gamers around the world had already moved on to the more exciting consoles that were available since Nintendo to most felt more childlike, especially the the disappointment from the release of

Your next trip to Hell just got postponed - Hellboy: Web of Wyrd now releasing October 18

We're pretty stoked for the upcoming new Hellboy game, Hellboy: Web of Wyrd. I mean, just look at this thing in action in the trailer above. It looks like the pages of Hellboy artist Mike Mignola's artwork come to life. If they can pull it off and make it fun, it's going to be killer. Unfortunately, though, we got news today that we'll have to wait just a little bit longer to find out whether they pulled it off or not. Originally planned to launch on October 4, Hellboy: Web of Wyrd has been pushed back two weeks to an October 18 release.

A tense sci-fi walking simulator that you can finish in one sitting - Fort Solis Quick Review

SHOULD I PLAY FORT SOLIS? Fort Solis is absolutely worth playing, as long as you know the type of game you’re getting into. And that is, to be clear, a one hundred percent narrative game. Virtually all of the “gameplay” in Fort Solis is made up of walking around the titular creepy abandoned base on Mars, with a small handful of very simple puzzles and quick time events. That said, if you’re down for a creepy, suspenseful story, this one will get under your skin in all the best ways.

When I was just a young boy, my father would drive me deep into the woods and leave me there overnight with nothing but a gun and a can of beans. The rules were simple, if I survived until the morning I could go to Disneyland with him the next day, but if I ended up getting eaten by the wildlife or the wandering fentanyl addicts then I would forever be considered a loser. This video game helps to capture that feeling from my youth, the raw fear of it is enough to keep your palms sweaty and your heart racing. Sure, in the game you're shooting necrotic demons from some other dimension, but you can't get much closer to a fentanyl ravager than that.

FNAF INTO THE PIT - THE FIRST AND LAST TIME I'LL PLAY IT!

I've never found cheap jump scare games like Amnesia, FNAF, and many other titles to be particularly interesting, owing in part to my preference for atmospheric horror with good storytelling to being bombarded with loud noises every few seconds. This is the first time and it will be the last time that I will sit down to play a FNAF game. I do own a copy of prior games; however, I consider it more of a collection that just sits in my library than a game that I would like to play through because I know it's nothing special. There is not much here. This is simply a video game recreation of one of the books, with some eater eggs thrown in.
FNAF INTO THE PIT - THE FIRST AND LAST TIME I'LL PLAY IT!
My God this game! A horror-puzzle-interactive game where we have 7 days to spend with a cursed painting in a studio. Many painters tried to paint it but eventually died, the only reason? Not to upset the girl in the painting. The game has a very good story line and the experience itself was very unique. You have to find the hidden objects , solve the puzzles given by the girl in the painting and paint her. The objects you place and the color you choose decide your fate. If she gets angry then it's your end. And the number of times I have been killed is uncountable. But I loved that, I loved the vibe, the sarcastic girl, the music is just so amazing. Everything is a part of ideal recipe for a horror game, the dark theme, a sad horrifying story, the lullaby music yet in between all this you are painting and adding colors to complete her. The sound effects and visual effects when you choose the colors from the palette were astonishingly good. The art work was simple 2D, the puzzles were moderately challenging but it was all so much fun because every hint you need comes from the girl's dialogues, the objects in the room, the text logs on your phone. I really loved how simple and addictive this game was. They kept everything simple but UNIQUE and INNOVATIVE ideas in terms of gaming experience.I also liked how pretty the girl was. Loved it!!!!!

This is the mobile remake of the iconic psychological horror game developed by Enigmatic Studio. This remastered version delivers a haunting narrative experience, improving graphics, audio, and fluidity compared to the original. It's essentially a first-person horror game with strong exploratory elements and environmental puzzles, designed to immerse us in a constantly tense and disturbing atmosphere. Everything revolves around a nameless protagonist who wakes up in a seemingly abandoned building, with no memory of how he got there. From the first minutes, a sense of disorientation sets in: silent corridors, flickering lights, and rooms that seem to change layout. Through scattered documents, audio recordings, and sudden visions, we discover that the place is linked to psychological experiments and traumatic events from the past. The protagonist seems to have a direct connection to what happened: fragments of memory gradually emerge, revealing a story of guilt, mental manipulation, and distorted reality. The narrative plays heavily on ambiguity: is what we see real or a figment of the protagonist's mind?  Sudden appearances and environmental changes help maintain the tension until the finale, where the pieces of the puzzle come together in a revelation as disturbing as it is surprising. The gameplay is structured primarily in first-person, with free exploration of the environments, collection of key objects, solving environmental puzzles, and scripted events and sudden moments of tension. There is no combat here. The setting is one of the game's strengths: claustrophobic corridors, dark rooms, realistic ambient sounds, and a key audio component. The remastered version improves textures, dynamic lighting, and stability on modern devices, making the experience more immersive. I recommend it to lovers of narrative psychological horror. It doesn't focus on excessive jump scares, but on a constant atmosphere of unease and mystery. The remaster enhances an already interesting project, making it more accessible and fluid on mobile. A short but intense experience, capable of leaving a lasting impression, especially for those who love ambiguous and profound stories.

You’d have to be brainwashed to join up with this messy horror game’s cult - Unholy Quick Review

PLAY IT OR SKIP IT? Skip this one. Unholy starts with an intriguing concept: You play as a mother and devout member of a strange modern-day cult who finally leaves the flock after her son is horrifically sacrificed. It’s a killer hook, but it’s sadly wasted on a game with subpar everything else—writing, voice acting, level design, stealth mechanics, all of it. TIME PLAYED I played around three or four hours of

SHOULD I PLAY UNSORTED HORROR? Play it if you like horror games at all. I mean, it’s totally free, what do you have to lose? Unsorted Horror is a compilation of five brief but memorable horror experiences created by developer Mike Klubnika. While the actual gameplay is somewhat minimal here, the sense of atmosphere that Klubnika builds is second to none. MONONEKO - A GOREY CUPHEAD STYLED RHYTHM GAME

A game about getting revenge on Yokai and cat murderers on numerous fronts. How much more challenging may this be in the future? That is the primary question here, given that it is barely functioning at times, crashing and failing to award you with gold coins which helps you improve your effects on each run. MonoNeko is both bright and full of dark depictions, with the premise of reviving killed cats and using them as a little army to defeat those who have done this evil act. Putting that notion aside, it was really rather enjoyable, even if it did seem like an very early access game with a lot of room for growth if they decide to actually work on it.

The next The Last of Us game has been canceled

With the popularity of this year's HBO TV adaptation, The Last of Us is arguably as popular as its ever been. But even popularity can't saved a doomed project. In a blog post today, developer Naughty Dog revealed that the long-in-development The Last of Us Online has been canceled. This project had been in development for several years now and was seen by many as a replacement for the "Factions" multiplayer mode from the original
