The Cub is an action-packed 2D platformer set on a postapocalyptic Earth that looks set to be one of the first indie hits of 2024. While the full game won’t be available until January 19, 2024, you can play the demo for free now, and it’s already very impressive. The game’s gorgeous visuals and challenging gameplay were definitely enough to sell me, and I can’t wait to check out the full version.

I lately played the pc/ps4 game "Empire of Sin" (an XCom inspired tbs title set in the 1920s roaring prohibition times, with Mafia & speak easy bars). This would work 100% on mobile and could become THE reference of the ever blooming genre. ...but why not go some more decades back in time? What about Amiga classics like the Cinemaware games (Defender of the crown, It came from the desert, ...) or the excellence of grid tactics Battle Isle?

Online FTP addictive cosy game where you can play solo or team up with friends. Lots of ways to play with NPC quests, building and decorating your own plot, hunting, growing, fishing, romance, friendship, new content being added all the time. Amazing graphics and a good story line. Buggy at times bit this has only just come out of beta and has a huge following already, see social media and discord for groups. SHOULD I PLAY HELSKATE? Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater fans should definitely give this a look. That said, you might want to wait until it’s had a few updates. Helskate is a hack-and-slash roguelike that also happens to be a skateboarding game, and it just hit early access. It’s a ton of fun to shift between monster slaying and skateboarding tricks, but I ran into several issues during my playtime. If you pick it up now, you’ll probably have a good time, but I suspect it’ll be much better once it’s had more time in the oven.
