Blazblue is recognized as one of the better fighting anime games, comparable to Guilty Gear. However, in this case, it takes on the role of a Metroidvania with a divided community and a lot of misdirection when it comes to it's trailers. It's actually not that bad. It's a refreshing and daring attempt to attract a wider audience, and I applaud this approach, as it piques my interest in checking out the rest of the series as a whole with its exciting gameplay and mystery.

Astra: Knights of Veda is a gacha side-scrolling beat ‘em up that features a rich story and world with some really gorgeous accompanying visuals. Character sprites look wonderful and full of personality, and the game’s voice acting and direction are decent. Still, this is only the demo. More than maybe any other single development studio, Codemasters knows rally racing.  They've been pumping out the Colin McRae Rally and Dirt games for many years, and now they're taking over the EA Sports WRC series. This marks a big milestone for both Codemasters—which was purchased by EA in 2020—and the WRC franchise in video game form, which has previously been worked on by French developer Kylotonn to mixed results.

PLAY IT OR SKIP IT? Play it if you’re even the slightest fan of horror games. Killer Frequency is an incredibly unique first-person horror game where you take on the role of a small-town night-shift radio DJ. There’s just one twist: A killer is stalking the town during your shift, and all of the town’s 911 calls are being routed through to your station. This means a lot of the “action” is just standing behind a desk, picking which tunes to play and trying to keep innocent people alive with your words alone. Don’t let the limited setting fool you, though; this is a deeply creative game that kept surprising me with new challenges.

A long time ago (1995) in a galaxy far, far away (the basement den where I convinced my mom to set up her Windows 95 PC), I spent an awful lot of time playing Star Wars: Dark Forces. As a certified dork who loved the Star Wars movies and equally loved the fast-paced shooting action of Doom, a game that blended the two was like a dream come true. Of course, games have changed a lot in the nearly thirty years since Dark Forces first came out, which is why I'm so excited to see it getting a new and improved release. I am aware that I face criticism for this stance, but it is vital to recognize that we all think differently and prefer different things. That is, while I dislike the game's progression and randomization, I absolutely love the visuals and vibe it has, but the fact that it has the same 5-7 endings no matter what you do and requires you to go through 100+ iterations of random sequences to get the ones that you want, I find it difficult to recommend because I believe the player has less control over their overall actions outside of inputting commands to advance the game forward through them.
