IS ENTROPY EFFECT WORTH WATCHING? Now, I'm a -huge- fan of Roguelites, especially the games that lean a lot heavier into sidescrolling action, or spectacle fighters. Combine that with an overarching fondness for the Blazblue franchise (Though I still need to play Centralfiction), and you can likely see why I was excited to dip my toes into 91Act's BlazBlue: Entropy Effect. And honestly? Despite being an early-access title, the content itself feels incredibly solid.

We're huge fans of the twisty storytelling and gruesome deaths of the Danganronpa series of visual novels, but there hasn't been a new mainline entry since 2017's Danganronpa V3. With that in mind, we're starting to look elsewhere to get our fix of kidnapped innocents placed into a dastardly game of death. Empire of Sin -for a serious discussion it needs titles that could be converted to mobile devices FOR REAL. I lately played the pc/ps4 game "Empire of Sin" (an XCom inspired tbs title set in the 1920s roaring prohibition times, with Mafia & speak easy bars). This would work 100% on mobile and could become THE reference of the ever blooming genre. ...but why not go some more decades back in time? What about Amiga classics like the Cinemaware games (Defender of the crown, It came from the desert, ...) or the excellence of grid tactics Battle Isle?

One thing I noticed in t3 is the lack of unified effort towards a single premier experience, you can play totally different games across casual, ranked and battle royale. The effort is scattered. My proposal is making a single 5 v 5 game mode that can be played across ranked and casual and is the same in both, allowing devs to focus their effort and resources into a single premier experience that borrows from whats good from each of the current game modes.

Astra: Knights of Veda is a gacha side-scrolling beat ‘em up that features a rich story and world with some really gorgeous accompanying visuals. The story of Astra is incredibly illustrated and decently acted. With the demo being fully voice-acted, it kept me engaged most of the time. It also doesn’t shy away from pretty gnarly stuff which I as a story enthusiast appreciated. Astra operates like a typical 2D side-scrolling beat ‘em up, in a way similar to ASTLIBRA Revision released back in 2022, with a basic attack, dodge, special, and ultimate. You need to use these moves in conjunction with each other to successfully clear each zone. You can also switch your characters on the fly (thanks to a big story reason) to spice things up.

SHOULD I PLAY SILENT HOPE? Definitely give this one a chance if you’re looking for a surprisingly relaxing, grindy dungeon-crawler, but maybe skip it if you mainly go to RPGs for the story. Silent Hope goes back to the absolute basics of the Japanese RPG formula, with a crew of seven mute heroes, each representing a different class, journeying into a multi-level abyss to save a fallen kingdom. By sticking to the fundamentals, the game is able to focus on making the characters and world charming as hell and the core gameplay streamlined and solid.
