本作是以光榮特庫摩 2015 年在 3DS 上發售的《三國志 2》為基礎，並移植部分遊戲功能打造而成。
除了玩家熟悉的功能之外，本次預訂追加超過 100 名新武將及 6 個劇情副本。玩家還能透過武將編輯功能來使用過去曾在系列作中登場的武將插圖。而為了因應手機版本，此次也加入自動存檔功能以及 SNS 功能。難度方面則追加「超級」難度，讓喜愛追求高難度的玩家得以挑戰自我。
