我們將在遊戲裡扮演名為斯黛拉的“靈魂擺渡者”的角色，尋找各地的幽靈遊魂。這些遊魂即將逝去，在最後的一段時光中，他們會和斯黛拉在船上朝夕相處，當斯黛拉完成他們最後的心願後，將前往永恆之門完成轉生。
作為一款模擬經營類遊戲，遊戲玩法不必多説。隨着靈魂們提出自己的心願（即任務發布），我們就可以不斷建造升級自己的渡船，耕種、採礦、釣魚、烹飪、紡織等經營玩法應有盡有。在海上旅行的時候，就可以通過釣魚收菜收集物資來打發時間。
另一個重要玩法是海上航行，擺渡船的升級與海域地圖探索密切相關。我們需要前往各個島嶼，通過拾取、採礦伐木來獲得船隻升級的材料。反過來地圖上的一些區域又限定了可以探索的條件，如冰層、岩層以及迷霧等等，需要在船隻性能達到標準後才能前去探索。航行時候遇到的場景會讓你非常驚喜：我們可以去捕捉閃電、流星、飄蕩的水母與閃爍的火光。
