After centuries of war and annexation, the world is gradually dominated by two great powers, the Oakley Empire and the Alton Federation. They honored different ideologies and viewed each other as arch-enemies. Four years ago, a world war broke out between these two powers and their allies. In the end, after millions of deaths and injuries, an unconditional peace was reached between the two defeated sides a few weeks ago. Though there appears to have been no significant territorial changes, at least within the empire, there are a number of aspirants who are ready for a revolution. The country seems to be at the crossroads of change.

The protagonist, Yang Che: a veteran who came from the East but fought through the four-year war in the Imperial Army, was assigned to the Imperial Royal First Academy as a military teacher after the war. However, he comes to this academy with one purpose in mind - to kill the Emperor.

Zoe Von Lundhall: the princess of the Empire, a pampered and naive young girl who has been isolated from the dark side of the Empire since childhood. Although her life is like a caged bird, she has always longed for the scenery outside the cage, even if it is very dangerous. After meeting Yang Che in the academy, Zoe believed that Yang Che would be able to bring herself out of the cage she grew up in. But what she doesn't know is that Yang Che's goal is to kill her beloved father.

Wang Li: Same Easterner as Yang Che, but his real identity is an agent of the Federation. During the war, Yang Che had entered into a partnership with Wang Li, who was an enemy, and the agent organization behind her, and this partnership was maintained until after the war in order to assassinate the Emperor. It's just that for Wang Li, she may want more than just a partnership.

Kreya Kahn: The current leader of the Red Shirts, the Empire's resistance organization. Her brother, Marco Kahn, was killed in action before the end of the war due to a clash with the Anti Revolution Guard, leaving Kreya to step up and follow in her brother's revolutionary footsteps. However, due to the betrayal of her men, Kreya was nearly killed by the Empire. The desperate Kreya was saved by Yang Che by chance. And after learning about Yang Che's thoughts, Kreya firmly believes that Yang Che should not become an assassin, but a revolutionary to change this country.
