In Hitman Sniper - The Shadows (HS), you are hired by The Shadows (a group of snipers) as an Agent, where you’ll have to take on missions.
Story (★★★☆☆)
✔️ Simple Mission: Go on missions and kill wanted criminals and underworld goons
✔️ Characters come with background stories
❌ No narrative
❌ Agent 47 doesn’t take the centre stage anymore
Gameplay (★★☆☆☆)
✔️ FPS sniper game
✔️ Controls don’t feel as smooth as when you play Hitman on the desktop
✔️ Campaign and PVP mode are available
✔️ Agents and weapons can be upgraded
✔️ Daily and weekly assignments to complete
❌ Overly simplified controls
❌ Physics in this game feels fake as compared to the original Hitman game
❌ No free exploration/roaming like the original Hitman game
❌ Reloading process isn’t quick
❌ Laggy at times
❌ Challenge ramps up pretty quickly to clear each contract fully
Graphics (★★★☆☆)
✔️ Environment designs are well detailed
❌ Some animation are rather pixelated
Audio (★★★☆☆)
✔️ Decent soundscape
❌ Nothing spectacular
Verdict (★★★★★☆☆☆☆☆)
As a fan of the Hitman franchise, I’d say that HS didn’t quite hit the nail. Despite the intriguing PVP modes, nothing else seems to be able to retain my attention (especially when the game seems like a downplay from the original Hitman game). All in all, it was quite a turn off really.
Unless you’re new to the Hitman franchise or are simply playing it as a standalone game, I’d recommend you to go for something more exciting.
