Hello, Party Stars!
This time, we will be introducing another new mechanism: Perfect Block (PB) to the game.
For friends among us who haven’t heard of Perfect Block: A Perfect Block happens when you time your opponent’s attack precisely and release your Block at the right moment. If the opponent’s attack land in the small time window after your Block, you will achieve a [Perfect Block]. A successful PB blocks the incoming attack and allows you to move freely faster and get on with your counterattacks.
Ok, why are we adding this Perfect Block (PB) mechanism?
Primarily, we want to increase your choice of proactive moves, which are high risk and high return. In the meantime, the newly added PB mechanism coincides with the original block release and grab time window. So, we made Block release + Grab & Throw a little slower to avoid strengthening stable punitory behaviors such as defensive grabbing.
(Demonstration of a Perfect Block)
In the above image, Sophia has predicted Sivi’s Thrust Punch and performed a Perfect Block. Now Sophia can immediately move freely on the ground while Sivi is still in the Ending lag of his attack, so he’s very vulnerable to the counterattacks.

Likewise, Perfect Block can also counter Projectiles. You can immediately launch your follow-up attack following a successful counterattack. Characters who excel in Projectile better be aware of this change.
Under certain conditions, the difficulty triggering a Perfect Block becomes higher, but its benefit also multiplies. For example, the Opponent uses a multi-hit attack.
Perfect Block against the opponent’s multi-hit attack)
YYou can see that Sandy has immediately launched a counterattack after a consecutive Perfect Block against Sophia’s Side Special. In the face of a multi-hit attack, you must tap and release the Block button rhythmically to perform a Perfect Block (PB). However, some multi-hit attacks can be impossible to Perfect Block by tap and release, such as Chilli’s Hundred Fractures Fist and Sivi’s fully charged Thrust Punch. The attack speed of these moves is just too intense.
If you are not confident about your consecutive PB maneuver, here’s a tip: When defending against a skill with longer attack intervals, you can try to perform a PB on just the last attack. Of course, the shield’s durability wears faster like this.
In a defensive encounter, if you attempt to perform a Perfect Block, you are subject to the risk of mistiming and getting hit. However, on the other side of higher risk, PB has its rightful merits: You can move freely immediately and... Looks super cool!

How cool exactly? Come and see for yourself in-game after the August 23rd update!
