Dungeons of Dreadrock is Selected as One of Indie Games Festival's Finalists

Source: Android Developers Blog Earlier this year, Google opened up submissions for 2020's Google Play Indie Games Festival which is an international competition that celebrates the very best of indie gaming from Europe, Japan and South Korea. Google has made its pick-up among hundreds of submission which are 20 finalists each in the three regions. However, it should be sad to say that Finals announced was postponed due to the COVID-19 situation. "We will be postponing the events until further notice", said Google.

I started playing Dungeons of Dreadrock with an expectation that it would be just another pixel-art dungeon crawler game, but it turned out to be a completely different experience (in a positive way). The atmosphere, music, and the story narration accompanied with an amazing voice-over are perfectly complementing the story which is also very well written! For a long time I didn't get this feeling of surprise while playing a small indie game. Although it's not exactly small - there are around 100 levels in this game and each level has a unique puzzle to solve. Some of these puzzles made me feel really smart whenever I managed to figure it out by myself. The game forces you to think outside of the box right from the start and the first 10 levels have one of the most intuitive and seemless tutorial sections in my opinion.

As the countdown hit zero, Indie Spotlight drew to its grand finale.
