Player of the week - Ginisis
Ginisis is the one that I (and other editor team members) have always been curious to know more about. Just take a look at his TapTap profile - 424+ games in the library, 156 game reviews posted… It’s pretty obvious that this guy not only spends a lot of time playing games, but also tons of time writing down his insights. “I really think a lot,” he said, “and that’s why I write a lot.”
Unlike many other players, Ginisis told me a really unique story about how he started his journey in gaming. “I was playing hide-and-seek with my friends, and I remember that I hid in a shop,” he started with a truly unusual opening. “I later came out of the shop and noticed that someone was playing a game outside,” he paused for a moment (and I already got excited for what was coming next), “and that game was Silent Hill. That was my first encounter with games.” From then on, Ginisis would come to the same shop every day to watch the same person play the same game, and Silent Hill 1 later becomes his all-time favorite. “It’s really a masterpiece.”
You might think that this hide-and-seek opening should be followed by an inspirational story of a gamer, but things didn’t really work out so smoothly for Ginisis. “My father hated games,” he did not have the permission, or the money to be more practical, to play games at that time. “Still, I went to the arcade game shop to watch others play games. For many years, I didn’t play games. I only watched.”
After watching others play all those interesting games for quite a long time, Ginisis was finally able to get his hands on them. “The first game that I officially finished, as far as I remember, is one from Sonic the Hedgehog series. I played it on Sega Genisis.” Ginisis also became a huge fan of the Streets of Rage series after trying out the third and fourth games in the franchise. Speaking of his favorite game genres, he nominated Beat 'em up and Hack & Slash. “I love challenging games. The gameplay should be hard, but also be balanced,” he specified. Recently he’s been reliving those old-school PS2 classics on his Android using an emulator (check out his review for the emulator if you ever have interest), “I’ve been playing Resident Evil 4 again and the gameplay is surprisingly smooth.”
During our whole interview which lasted for nearly 2 hours, the topic was always about games and we actually didn’t have too much talk about things outside of gaming. If you ever have the chance to chat with him, you will definitely be amazed by how much he knows about games. I secretly assumed that this guy has a gaming knowledge base inside his brain.
As someone who usually struggles a lot with writing (I'm scratching my head like hell when writing this believe it or not), I truly respect that Ginisis is always able to put down honestly what he's been thinking. This kind of honesty, is maybe one source of his ceaseless passion for creating, and we're definitely looking forward to seeing more of it.
Lol That is so funny
