it's true. Games hit a plateau and kind of stopped going up. The mobile market is atrocious, every big game is "free" multiplayer. Wish we'd get the kind of single player impressive looking games we used to.

I go back to classics. Games that let me use my imagination a little. Skyrim was total immersion for me. A less talked about Neocron, which I would to get running on Linux with Wine.
