I loved Haak visual and audio design, game looks fantastic and control feels smooth. Animations are on point as well, although there are some serious drawbacks as well that were really annoying. We will talk about all that in this review.
Haak is a platformer action-puzzle adventure game where you take a role of a sole adventurer who is looking for his brother. On your journey you will encounter multiple puzzles, jumping sequences, enemies and bosses. You will use different skills and tools in order to go though the game.
Magical glove that does melee damage and can throw a chained hook to do ranged damage and activate switches. You can upgrade its damage, hook's range and speed. This will be a main tool for your adventure.
Another thing is Dash ability, that will allow you to go through the dangerous obstacles, move faster, avoid attacks and so on. This skill is also useful in the jumping puzzles, prolonging your air duration and allowing you to reach far away places.
You will have to fight multiple enemies, ranging from simple slimes and blobs to the fullscale bosses with their own combat mechanics that you will have to learn and exploit in order to win the boss fights.
Speaking about bosses here comes the main caveat of the game. Onscreen controls are taking about 50% of your Boss combat area and you cant really see what the boss is doing and counter those moves. It makes these fights frustratingly annoying and hard.
Another drawback of Haat is death. When you die you just respawn and its, cool, but when you go through the tutorial monetization kicks in and you will have to watch long ad in order to revive. So I strongly recommend to buy the game if you like it to avoid frustration.
Difficulty wise the game feels harder than average because some jumping puzzles are pretty complex and they will just get harder over time. Fights are average and you can upgrade your character to make them easier.
Other than that the game is great, one of the best platformers I played so far on the mobile, it looks nice, it plays nice and story is really interesting to follow and fun.
