7 Days is a visual novel where your decisions will have direct outcome on the story. Find your way out of the post-mortem oblivion and get resurrected back into a normal life. Or make the wrong choice and wander in the Abyss forever.
I will try to make a spoiler-free (or very mild spoilers) review for the game, since its all about the story, so you can read without worrying.
Gameplay
So you died. And you have a chance to go back. You will have 7 days and specific task to complete. Sound pretty simple, but you will have to make hard choices along the way.
It all starts with set of questions to figure out your personality. Based on that you will be placed in one of the starting zones and it will affect your gameplay.
Overall most gameplay consists of text stories and some minor animations on the screen. You will have an option to select one of 2 answers in most situations and depending on your decisions you will move the story.
Answers you give might add or lose likability points with other characters. That will be important and might limit your options and endings. Each character have its own personality, secrets and motives, so think twice before siding with someone.
You have ability to go to timeline and see all the decision tree diagram. Over there you can pick any day and select dialogue from witch to continue and try to get the other outcome. I prefer to replay the game few times before resorting to that, just to see how things can develop organically.
One full game run took me 2 hours and I was reading the text aloud for the video, so just reading it might be faster. 7 Days have high replayability value with different starts, story trees and several endings.
Overall the gameplay is really fun, story is very captivation and you become worried for characters pretty fast.
Gameplay Score: 9/10
Difficulty
There is no right or wrong way to play 7 Days. I got the good ending on my 1st try (almost), so it was more about reading carefully and following the logic.
Anyway if you got yourself somewhere, where you dont want to be you can load previous dialogue from the timeline and try other dialogue options. I would advice doing few runs as it is.
Difficulty Score: 3/10
Graphics
There is really not much of a graphics in the 7 Days. Mostly character portraits and some animations here and there. As for the UI I think it might have been better, it looks pretty outdated. But its a visual novel, we are here for the story, right?
When you finish the game you can unlock special endings with Animations which are pretty cool.
Graphics Score: 6/10
Sounds and Music
7 Days have simple musical soundtrack with several music themes and some sounds for animations. Nothing fancy here, but its better than nothing.
Sounds and Music Score: 4/10
F2P or P2W
Paid game, no microtransactions. It costs 2 USD for me at the moment of writing an article. Its defo worth its money.
F2P Score: Game costs 2 USD.
Overall scores and Conclusion
Gameplay 9/10
Difficulty 3/10
Graphics 6/10
Sounds and BGM 4/10
F2P - paid game
I am not a big fun of visual novels, but this one was a fanatic journey. I wanted to play it a little bit before writing this review and ended up going through the full game in one go. It takes about 2 hours to go through the story once and there is also a place for replayability, since you will get different story options.
Overall score: 9/10
