Tacape is a new roguelike deckbuilder game and I have very mixed feelings about it.
In this article we will talk about both good and bad sides of Tacape so you can decide if this is the right game for you.
PROS
1. Inspired by Brasilian folklore.
When you play Tacape you can feel it. Background music, enemies, setting. All those things help you to immerse into the Brasilian folklore which game is based on.
2. Free Demo to test the game.
This is a good way to show players how your game is. You can try it for free, play the first area, go through few fights and even fight a boss and then decide if the game is worth your time and money.
CONS
1. A bit slow animation.
As you use the cards on the enemies there is some time for animation while you cant do anything. And lowering that time or allowing players to do chain actions to schedule them would solve that.
The fact that it got me worried in the early game means that late game it be a major headache.
2. Lack of progression mechanics.
It seems that there is no way to upgrade your characters between the runs, you will just unlock new cards as you go through the campaign. I'd love to see more progression options in the game. A goal to strive to, even if it gives incremental bonuses.
Verdict. Is Tacape Good?
Its average.
I tried to find some good things about the game, but there is nothing special about it that will help it to stand out. At the same time, there are no serious negatives as well, so yeah, Tacape holds middle ground pretty well and most likely will find its nice.
