Starborne: Frontiers - A Short Game Review

Starborne Frontiers is a RPG gacha mobile game with lots of cool looking characters to summon. But I was quite disappointed with its low gacha rate which is 1% for the Legendary units. With such gacha rate, it can be quite frustrating to summon the favorite legendary characters and you might have to spend more and more money in the gacha summons to get what you want. On the other hand, I really did appreciate the amazing 3D graphics of this game which felt very smooth and had a lot of graphical depth to the design of the environment. But the next moment, it was quite disappointing to me to see only spaceships as the action figures to engage in battle, instead of showing the characters. And the gameplay kinda felt lackluster.

Looking into the gameplay, I was pretty disappointed to see how limited my involvement is in the game. All you can do is to recruit best possible units into the blue tiles available in the tile-based formation map. Your team formation is the core strategy in this game and it will decide the outcomes of your battles. There are lots of characters with diverse roles. Some are defenders, some are attackers and some are supports. After engaging in the battle, you can't do much in the battlefield as it will be simulated in auto mode. All you can do is to increase the battle speed to up to 2x speed. First of all, I was not happy to see my characters with their glorious artwork design in the battlefield. They are just shown as some toy figure spaceships which I found to be very basic to be visually stimulating. Secondly, I was not able to perform any manual tactical moves or skills during the gameplay, which just was leading to my dying enthusiasm.

But I certainly appreciated the upgrade mechanics on your characters. You can equip upto a total of 6 gears which can provide you set effects. Set effects are quite interesting and can be very powerful if you can activate them as they provide massive extra stats to your characters. It did remind of the classic RPG gacha games like epic seven and summoners war. There are various other upgrade functions like skills improvement, rank improvement, and so on.

Honestly, I did not like the gacha rate in this game. For a regular premium summon (Specialist Beacon) there is only 1% chance to get Legendary units, which is quite toxic gacha as it can make you spend a lot of money just to get your favorite legendary character. Yes, there are expert beacon with 10% and Elite beacon with 100% chance to get legendary characters but they don't come easy! Usually they might come with premium purchase pack or a rare event session. As a free to play player myself, I hate these gacha rates and mechanics.
Overall, this game is quite playable and I do recommend you guys to try this game out. I would like to know what opinion you have got on this game. Cheers!

Starborne: Frontiers - Gameplay Review | An Exciting Space-Travel RPG?!
Starborne Frontiers is an RPG gacha mobile game with lots of unique characters and space maps to clear. I loved the graphics of this game which is pretty smooth with neat 3D design setups. But, the gameplay content was not that great experience for me. All I could do is sit back and watch the auto battles. All I can do is to setup the team formation just before battle and thats all there is to it. But the character upgrades and improvements are very detailed in this game. Its sad not to see our waifus in action during combat as only the space ship icon will show up in the battle.

They Should Call This Game The Waiting Chronicles...
Frontier Chronicles is a game that could have been good but was absolutely butchered. The graphics are nice, and the art style gives it some uniqueness. The attention to detail is well done. My favorite part is that when you are training a troop you actually see a troop training off to the side of the military building. When there aren't any troops in the training que that animation is no longer present. I love when developers implement small things like that. However, that is about as good as it gets. Everything else about the game is just plain boring.
