Following a long winter season, Fortnite's Chapter 4 Season 2 is coming to shake up the Battle Royale island with a brand-new Japan-inspired area of the map, a slew of new gameplay tweaks, and a new katana weapon that'll be your closest buddy for the next several months. Oh, and maybe the finest battle pass in game history, which includes the much awaited Eren Jaeger skin from Attack on Titan.
That's no small compliment given the great quality of the passes in Chapter 3, much alone the amazing Season 1 pass that just concluded. Actually, this battle pass list is genuinely epic, with an unequalled array of intriguing oddities, animals, and interesting individuals. There are some skins here that would be incredibly popular if they were offered in the item shop, but as battle pass offers (which means everyone and their moms will get these skins), some of these will remain omnipresent in battle royale for years to come.
So which Fortnite Chapter 4 Season 2 battle pass skin is definitely the best? That's definitely something we'll never agree on, because this Suicide Squad-style roster of weirdos appeals to such a wide range of preferences. But here's one viewpoint that doesn't appear to be all that divisive: no matter what type of crazy you are in real life, this battle pass has a skin to match.
Let us now rank these skins.
8. Stray
There's nothing wrong with this season's Drift remix, but he's a touch too tidy and clean for a skin pack that's usually fairly frickin' wild. That again, his lanky frame gives him a sinister sense while he's wearing his mask, so Stray may be the type of skin that grows on you with time. Perhaps, like the original Drift, perhaps people will wear him so much that the very sight of him is repulsive.
7. Renzo the Destroyer
This really sophisticated terminator looks fantastic, but he has a serious flaw: he lacks a functional mouth and eyes. So he's a skin that looks great standing still and in regular gaming, but he's a little "meh" when it comes to emotes. It may not be a significant problem for some of you. Renzo, on the other hand, is a touch irritating for those of us who prefer our skins to occupy us while we wait for matching. But just somewhat. He's still a lovely skin, but without a functional face, his comic potential is much smaller than I anticipated.
6. Imani
Imani is the required regular in the Fortnite Chapter 4 Season 2 battle pass, and because this pass is so full of fantastic weirdos, she's the odd one out. She gets a little lost as part of this bundle, but we'll be able to enjoy her more once we've exhausted our obsessions with Thunder and Empress Mizuki.
5. Eren Jaeger
While the protagonist of Attack on Titan isn't as naturally funny as Goku or Naruto, the show is so sincere that utilising this skin in Party Royale will be just as much fun as it would be in Battle Royale. The better the Fortnite collaboration, the more honest and serious the character. That's why Darth Vader will almost always be the funniest Fortnite battle pass character, while Eren Jaeger is almost always assured entertainment.
4. Highwire
This off-brand mix of Harley Quinn and Catwoman is likely to be a popular with the 500-crowned-victories sort of players that make my solo lobbies so insanely steamy. But this is also a beautiful character design, and the additional Easter style is a lovely touch—I always enjoy it when they throw in a holiday style or two in a battle pass.
3. Mizuki
We're not sure why Mizuki is the tier-100 skin on the Fortnite Chapter 4 Season 2 battle pass—much like the Ageless Champion boss from previous season, we don't know much about her or her part in the tale. But one thing is certain: this will be one of the skins I use when I keep being murdered as soon as I drop and need to get serious. She just gives off that feeling.
2. Thunder
With how many animal skins Fortnite offers, it's surprising there aren't more lizard dudes around. We hadn't had one in years, and he was well worth the wait. Thunder would be the greatest skin in any other Fortnite battle pass, hands down, especially with all three of his unlockable styles. Yet the fact that there is something better is a credit to the skill and daring of this move, not a criticism of Thunder's design. He's flawless.
1. Mystica
Mystica, on the other hand, is more flawless. She is, possibly, the biggest weirdo Fortnite has ever known. I can't get my head around this skin, no matter how long I stare at it. And I've spent a significant amount of time gazing at it. Those who find this skin after Chapter 4 Season 2 concludes will cry since they will never be able to have her.
