Yggdrasil 2: Awakening have plenty of good looking waifus, but the gameplay mechanics seems to be lacking. Lets figure out if its good?
In this article we will talk about both good and bad sides of Yggdrasil 2: Awakening so you can decide if this is the right game for you.
PROS
1. Character art
Yggdrasil 2: Awakening have stunning character art, with some very hot ladies included. Overall character art might be the main selling point of the game.
2. Variety of game modes
You have all the classical set of hero collector in Yggdrasil 2: Awakening: Campaign, Tower, 3 floors of Labyrinth, Some special adventures and events. It have a lot of content to get player busy, but not overwhelming amount.
3. Characters move in combat
Combat mechanics in Yggdrasil 2: Awakening allow characters to move on the battlefield, so its not just throwing skills between still characters.
CONS
1. Doesnt feel F2P friendly
Even after finishing all the basic things at the start of the game I barely got enough premium currency to do 1 10-summon. Yggdrasil 2: Awakening isnt giving out those too much, so for f2p it will be hard to build heroes, since it requires several copies of the heroes to reach their max potential
2. Combat sounds and music
Somewhy Yggdrasil 2: Awakening have background music that goes through most menus of the game, and when you enter the fight you dont get special combat music. Moreover, combat sounds are close to non existent. I am not sure if its WIP or design flaws.
3. Feels like game still needs work
All the game areas outside of character art seems ok, but could use more care or quality of life improvements. Autocombat option to start new stage fights, character voiceover on the main screen if you tap it, combat sounds, option to swipe between characters in their list menu and so on.
4. Stated as a Idle rogue-like RPG
I havent found any roguelike elements in the game outside of labyrinth. If we can consider afk income an idle mechanics and the fact that heroes fight on auto, calling it roguelike feels like just attention grabbing. This way you can add simulation and sports to the game genres as well.
Verdict. Is Yggdrasil 2: Awakening Good?
Needs work
Overall Yggdrasil 2: Awakening game mechanics are just as good as any other hero collector game, but it feels that some things are just lacking. Although if you like hot waifus you might want to take a look at the game, since some characters are looking really nice.
