If you've ever played an idle combat-based gacha game, you'll know exactly what to expect from Yggdrasil 2: Awakening. I don't mind idle games nor gacha, but they really need something to help them stick out from the dozens of options out there, and unfortunately, this game doesn't have much of anything.
The closest thing Yggdrasil 2 has to a unique hook is its setting. The game takes place in a post-apocalyptic world where the protagonist teams up with a bunch of chibi anime ladies to try to survive and build a way forward.
It's an interesting enough setup, but it doesn't go much further than that. Within an hour of starting, there was barely any storyline, and what plot I was given was total gibberish. The combat doesn't offer much appeal either, with a system that had no real strategic depth that I could discover. A sort of roguelike mode where I unlocked different upgrades as I progressed through levels was the most interesting of the batch, but even that couldn't hold my attention for long.
Nothing about Yggdrasil 2: Awakening is intensely bad, but the whole game just kind of feels like a low-budget clone of every single idle gacha game that has come before. I couldn't find much to care about.
