I would describe this as a pleasant breath of fresh air, with a somewhat easy to follow story with lingering doubts underlying it's cute exterior.
The aesthetics of games like Undertale, Everhood, or don't appear all that frequently with non-combat. For me, it's a first in a very long time.
You work for an organization that manufactures Melon based products, doing odd errands and jobs, while working side by side with your best friend.
Presentation
Nostalgic
The pixel art in the game is excellent. The low green that gives everything you see in the game a green tinge makes it nearly feel like an old-school game-boy.
I am unsure if this is the design choice that the developers were going for, but I personally really like it. It's nostalgic and simple, without being too colorful.
Stunning Pixel Art
The animations used in the game have a lot of depth for a game that appears to be so cute and simply on the surface. There are several cutscenes that aren't necessarily top-down views and allow you to witness some incredibly lovely panning passages or events that highlight the artists talent, bringing more life to the main character, which in this case would be (your name).
Music & Audio
While not being extravagant in any way. It's not annoying or anything like that.
The majority of the sounds that the game has so far presented are actually fantastic. However, the sound that feet or shoes make on hardwood is a little bit unpleasant being louder than most things, but otherwise everything is great.
Conclusion
It's adorable
Although I'm sure there are some underlying things in this wholesome casual exploration story that I haven't yet uncovered, I am so far enjoying it a lot.
This game brings back a lot of memories for me because I've played a number of games in a similar style in the past, but none that were as heavily focused on the plot and the characters as this one is, as opposed to fighting.
This seems like one of those games that you can just enjoy for what it is if you want to sit down and wrap yourself in a warm blanket with some warm cocoa.
My initial thoughts on this game come to a close with the caveat that, while others may disagree, that is what makes gamers unique. You don't have to share their interests or agree with them and are welcome to critic me on mine.
If you want to catch me on one of my streams or locate me on social media, you may do so at the following locations, I'm always playing something new.
