Melon Journey: Bittersweet Memories (Reviewed)
Released: 6 April, 2023
Price: $15 USD
Melon Journey: Bittersweet Memories is a genuinely endearing short narrative-driven exploration game where you can tour the towns and interact with many individuals in what appears to be a wholesome, amiable, and charming journey.
You work for a company that produces melon-based goods, but another town is at conflict with yours because it expressly prohibits the usage of melon goods amid rumours that everything is not is as it seems with the head honcho.
If you're a gamer who loves to feel warm with a game that offers hours of silly humor and excellent dialog, this game is for you. I don't want to spoil anything for anyone who wants to play through the game, so this is all I will say for story.
Since the game only lasts for approximately 5 hours, it's difficult to say much about it, but the time you spend playing it will likely go down as some of your most memorable moments in recent games that you have played through.
Leaving a warm and wonderful sensation as you part ways for future ventures.

The length
While I am having a great time playing this game through to the end, I am also experiencing a sense of dread as I get closer to the game's conclusion.
This game shouldn't end, in my opinion. I would like this to go on for a very long time because the characters, quests, friends you make, and lessons you learn are all so great. But the problem with games like this is that they only appear occasionally among the myriad awful games we ignore over the years.
It's truly a sight to behold. You will want to experience everything the game has to offer, right up to getting a 100% through steam. You have my word on that.
I loved every minute of this game
I really do mean it
The game's great pixel art and music provide a lot of fun and individuality, and it also makes numerous references to timeless events that anybody from the 1990s would easily recognize, so not only great but nostalgic as well.
The endearing characters, animations, dialogue, and lessons you may learn from the game are all you will really experience, it's not a combat game.
It doesn't really matter who you are; the game should affect you in some way, shape, or form to the point that you want to see it through to the end.
Conclusion
I see myself in this game
All of the humour, including a lot of the conversations surrounding "You smell!" or "You smell nice!" are totally up my alley in terms of what I normally say to people, as a compliment or just to start up a casual conversation.
I promise you, if you enjoyed games like Undertale and the likes of Earthbound, or even Lisa, this game will be something that you would have a great time with.
I'm upset to see this game come to an end for me. But even though they are simply in-game NPCs, I will always remember the times I spent with each and every one of the characters because I actually care about them due to the awesome efforts of the developers who spent all of their time creating it.
This concludes my review of this game, while my opinions may be met with criticism, that's what makes gamers unique, you don't have to like the same things that others do, nor do you have to agree with them.
