The second group of survivors who were much more fortunate than the first group, pioneered a new route. They sailed southeast and finally reached the south of Novusaes. Unlike the north, the southern area was mostly plain, with a pleasant climate, abundant resources and fertile lands. The southern survivors soon adapted to the new environment, building their first town, Gyldan, on the bank of River Polaus, known as the "River of Gold", and thus began their conquest.
In the first few centuries, the southerners were able to develop their civilisation rapidly, thanks to the abundance of produce, and soon conquered all the lands in the south, establishing numerous forces and states. With the rapid development of civilisation came ambition and war, and a long period of mutual conquest and annexation culminated in the formation of the mighty and secure Guthandus Empire, which eventually united the southern part of the continent.
The wealth of the land supported the huge empire, and the prosperity of trade contributed to the development of science, craft and belief. The first town, Gyldan, became the capital of the empire, and was known as the 'Town Made of Gold' and a holy place for every southerner, where streets were bustling with crowd and horses, and magnificent buildings were lined up alongside the streets. For almost a thousand years, the luxurious town had been the political, religious and commercial centre of the south. Everything seemed so splendid that no one could expect a war that would overwhelm the empire and even the whole continent, was starting from this golden town...
Continental Chronicles of Novusaes: History of Human Race
Back in the Old World, humans were the most populous and powerful race. After the Great Migration, the human race, with their resilience and pioneering spirit, once again became the most influential race in the New World, with the orcs and elves only being able to compete in terms of population and military power.
After more than a thousand years of reproduction and development, humans not only took control of the Guthandus Empire in the south, but also firmly dominated the three northern kingdoms, with the exception of the Kingdom of Nortouahe, thus showing the incomparable status and strength of humans on the Novusaes.

According to Chronicles of Hohweall left by an ancient scholar Gardo Desenbyd, around a thousand years ago, the gods sent a curse unexpectedly, along with a devastating divine punishment sweeping across the land in an instant. Continental Chronicles of Novusaes: The Battle of the Three Powers
As the sun rose and set over and over again, more than a thousand years had passed since the survivors set foot on the continent of Novusaes. Unlike the northern kingdoms, which had long been divided, the mighty Empire of Guthandushad began to move towards centralisation.
The Emperor, Oir, issued a series of decrees in a bid to bring power scattered throughout the empire back to the centre by forceful means. Not surprisingly, the decrees were met with strong resistance from the nobility, most notably from the head of the nobility in the Costa area, Duke of Poedilea, Hugh Lanse, who held the largest fief in the Empire and led the most powerful force.
