The 10 best creations in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom (so far)

I adore so many things about The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom—from its sprawling open world to its gorgeous soundtrack—but the best part of the game is its building mechanics. Whether I’m assembling a homemade hovercraft or gluing a sword to a sword, I’m always trying to come up with new ways to take on enemies or explore.
I’m proud of my inventions, but some Zelda players have come up with creations far beyond anything I could imagine. These players haven’t just come up with cool builds; they’ve made mind-blowing contraptions that completely change the scope of the game. These are ten of the best creations I’ve seen in Tears of the Kingdom so far.
The Steed Sprayer Shower Service™
It’s easy to get dirty when you’re galloping across the plains of Hyrule. That’s why @aquatic_ambi came up with a handy way to wash all of your horses at once. It doesn’t seem like the horses are fans of the shower, but I’m sure they’ll feel better after they’re dried off and squeaky clean. Once they’re done, maybe Link can hop in and grab a shower too.
Hudsonator Bot
Hudson has come a long way since Breath of the Wild. While he once was an ordinary construction worker, he’s now the CEO of his own company, and it’s thanks to him that there are construction materials scattered all over Hyrule. If you’re looking for a way to honor President Hudson, @GloomyLoomer has built the Hudsonator, a laser-shooting robot that can take on Bokoblins with ease! I can’t imagine a better advertisement for Hudson Construction.
Flying Attack Drone
If you need a break from playing the hero, you can always commit a few war crimes. This ultrapowerful attack drone from @RinHara5aki was designed to rain down death from above. The monsters in Hyrule aren’t exactly friendly, but I’m not sure they deserve this fiery fate. I feel a little sorry for the burnt Bokoblins, but I’m still tempted to build an attack drone of my own.
Korok Elevator
Sometimes, the best creations are the simplest. Low-Reference9994 has engineered an elevator that can transport sleepy Koroks straight to their friends. This elevator may not be the smoothest ride in Hyrule, but it’s one of the easiest ways to get a Korok up a mountain. Lots of players have been building Korok torture devices, but sometimes, it’s nice to help these little guys out!
Automatic Dog Petter
Link may not be able to use his hands to pet the adorable dogs scattered around Hyrule, but that doesn’t mean he can’t pet them at all. @noah________a invented a tool that can give pups some automatic affection. The dog seems pretty thrilled to get pets, which means every Tears of the Kingdom player is obligated to build an automatic dog petter of their own.
Steerable Transformer
I’ve been a die-hard Transformers fan since I was a kid, so I was blown away by this creation from @MC47304753. At first glance, it appears to be a pretty sweet truck, but there’s more to this vehicle than meets the eye. With a few simple adjustments, it transforms into a fully controllable robot! It takes a little finagling to get into the pilot seat, but it’s worth the effort to live out your mech-piloting dreams.
The Swampcrawler
It’s easy to stick a few wheels on a piece of wood, but why would you do that when you can build a vehicle that’s powered by springs? I’m not sure if this creation from @ScTiVCrMnFeCo_ can actually handle deeper waters, but whether it’s traversing puddles or land, I absolutely love the way it moves. It’s the perfect way to roll up on some Lizalfos before you launch an attack.
Worldbreaker Battleship
Some of my favorite games let me explore the world via a massive airship. Tears of the Kingdom may not have an unlockable airship, but somehow Akario has found a way to build one. The design is already impressive, but this isn’t an ordinary airship. It’s a powerful battleship that can unleash attacks while it soars through the air.
Rotating Fish Cooker
I don’t know about you, but taking on bosses and building contraptions makes me pretty hungry. Thanks to this handy cooking device from @yukino_san_14, Link can quickly heat up some protein. It doesn’t necessarily look like the safest way to prepare fish, but when it comes to speed, it’s hard to beat!
The Knight
Between the Blood Moons, the dragons, and the world-changing calamities, Hyrule could probably use a few more heroes. @ZAKUYA_BOTW has risen to the challenge and built an honorable knight that can fight by Link’s side. I’ve seen a lot of amazing battle bots, but what makes this guy stand out is that he’s bursting with personality. I love the way he wiggles his arms around while he zaps monsters with lasers.

TapTap Game of the Year 2023 #3: Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom - the best Zelda game ever
The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom came out way back in May, but from the first time I glued a sword to another sword, I knew it would be one of my favorite games of the year. It manages to be so many things at the same time, from a physics sandbox to a puzzle-lover’s playground to a shockingly detailed engineering simulation. Oh, and it also happens to be a phenomenal Zelda game. Most games are filled with boundaries and restrictions, but in Tears of the Kingdom, you can do just about anything you want to do if you can find a way to make it work. Sure, you can’t walk up to dogs and pet them, but
