Atmospheric Fear Mixed With Repetitive Gameplay....

Layers Of Fear has just been released and this is the new and improved version built with Unreal Engine 5. The game features a Brand New story along with some old stories. This new version built with Unreal Engine 5 takes the environmental suspense to a whole new level. The game continues to make you feel like you are really in the game exploring these environments. The graphics are top notch and the shadows, lighting, and overall sound effects deliver a great experience. The stories themselves are interesting but also confusing at times. With a non linear story approach this is bound to happen though.
The audio was just so fantastic that I couldn't get enough of it. From the peace full rain sounds and thunder to the eerie sounds of footsteps above you accompanied by creeks and cranks of the wood boards. Visually and audio wise the game is great I don't think anyone would argue that. The problem however is the same problem the series has always faced and that is repetitive gameplay. Much of the actual gameplay is just exploring an environment and investigating different objects. Occasionally there will be a change in your environment along with jump scares. After you experience these for the first time though there really isn't anything new except the story.
Overall, I think it's a great game and many will enjoy. The new improvements add to the fear feelings and mess with your emotions. In the end though even with better graphics the gameplay is still nothing new that we already haven't seen in the Layers Of Fear franchise.
