Firmament is an all-new game from Cyan Worlds, the developer of the legendary Myst and Riven games, and while Firmament is a fully 3D world, its continuity with those earlier adventures is impossible to miss. Firmament’s puzzles all involve manipulating complex, beautiful machinery rather than shuffling through inventory items. I enjoyed piecing together its story of interdimensional caretakers of reality from the few clues they left behind almost as much as I loved the feeling of finally figuring out how to get one of their huge machines working the way I wanted.

So I decided to break my own game a little. No tanks.  No fancy units. For the first half of the stage I literally summoned NOTHING. Just watched the enemy march to my doorstep while I hoarded dried fish like a maniac. And then——When they were almost kissing my base HP bar… I SPAMMED BACON JACK ONLY. The cheapest “trash” cat in Claws of Power. But this time every Bacon Jack came in with gear and accessories strapped on, so that 1-cost newbie turned into a tiny berserker when you stack twenty of them together. Screen instantly filled with cats. Enemy wave? Deleted. Frame rate? Also questioning life. Does it always work? Absolutely not 😂 If your dried-fish income isn’t upgraded enough, you either: • run out of fish mid-spam, or • your base explodes before the swarm even forms. the game is so much fun, theres a wide variety of towers to unlock or build, the mechanics of the game is hard, but it is explained perfectly by the tutorial which prepares you for the overall game, although the tutorial only teaches you about 1 or 2 things about how to refactor and make the track longer, i think thats a good approach to teaching new players as that approach gives difficulty to levels to come which if you ask me is a very steep difficulty drop and that style of approach is also good as it engages the player's brain making the player think strategically about which tower to refactor, when to build new tracks, when to upgrade the system and where to put certain types of towers, that approach which doesnt baby the player by hand feeding them with the answer is the best approach on how to teach players the mechanics especially since this is a TD game where critical and strategic thinking is required but nonetheless, if you make it through that you will learn new stuff which is so fun, overall 9.6 / 10 game

🎬 Presentation: Brown Dust 2 is the sequel to Brave Nine that was before known as BrownDust at least that's what I think? So I joined this game with the release of the PC and found it (tldr) to be a pretty pleasant experience and hence downloaded the mobile client as well. 📖 Storyline: 🎵 Sound: The story I won't comment much on it since I haven't really dived too deep yet, but one thing it's good at is really making it feel like an actual fantasy anime. The stellar voice acting (fully voice acted) really helps too. As I delve further into this review you'll understand why I think the story not only benefits from it's writing but equally from it's world. You start off with a classic join the adventure guild trope story. Which tbh I wasn't enticed by, but then after completing the small prologue I was put into the story of "traveling girl" as you'll see in the pics. Not sure if it's because I got her as a unit or it just supposed to be like this, but her story so far is very immersive with it's town, and characters you're introduced too and her own little secret. Sure there's good writing but there's also the fact that the world around you is so beautiful like something from the Octopath series. Music is amazing as well! Also, takes you back to traditional final fantasy RPGs, and not to mention the day, and night function just adds up to the rpg experience. Though having played the reverse 1999 cbt I wouldn't say it's on the same level story wise.

One of the fun parts of making my own game is that sometimes I can just take a character vibe I really like and turn it into a cat. So this time I made a new unit for Claws of Power called Wade. Dark outfit, glowing red blade, very obvious “space villain” energy. He’s not just there for looks, though. In battle he can use the red blade to block incoming ranged attacks, which makes him really funny to watch against archers and gunners. He also has a pull / gravity-like skill that drags enemies from farther away right into melee range, so once they get close, he can start bullying them properly. The whole thing is still hand-drawn frame by frame, and these GIFs are from my current test build. I’m still tuning him, but he’s already one of those units that feels very satisfying when everything lines up.
