ʟᴇᴛs ᴅɪᴠᴇ ɪɴᴛᴏ ᴛʜɪs ᴏᴠᴇʀʟᴏᴏᴋᴇᴅ, 2000’s ɢᴇᴍ Tak and the Power of Juju is an action-adventure platformer created by Avalanche Software, and was published by THQ Nordic (simply THQ at the time of publication) in October of 2003. It was met with mixed to average reviews by critics, and was given an average rating of about 6/10. At the time of its release it was looked over by many potential players because of the bigger named titles that released that year (Jak 2, Ratchet and Clank: Going Commando, and DMC2 to name a few). You could play this title on the GameCube, PS2, and the Game Boy Advance (the format that I owned). Luckily for me this game released during my childhood ( I was 7 at release) and couldn't be bothered with the snobby opinions of "video game critics" reviews (let alone fully read them if I wanted to). Not only was this game awesome visually, the main character "Tak" was voiced by Jason Marsden (Max from "A Goof Movie" and Chester from "The Fairy Odd Parents"). This game was one of my first memories playing a Game Boy Advance, and couldn't be happier with this new title in my little gaming collection.

GET IT ON THE STEAM PAGE I've never been a fan of Cyberpunk 2077; I bought it when it first came out to give it a try and then refunded it after 2 hours since the only good thing about it was that it was DRM-free which allowed you to continue playing it after the fact if you wanted to. The fundamental gameplay was so awful owing to all of the incomplete aspects, the plot was what made it so fantastic. It makes you wish that publishers would just take a step back and let developers work on the game fully instead of pushing deadlines and releasing half-assed features, only to take another 2-4 years to repair the flaws. Then, of course, facing many lawsuits, losing millions, and losing trust. I enjoy where this game has progressed to, but it still needs work to fix many of the flaws.

I’m working on a small cat lane strategy game called Claws of Power, and these GIFs are from a chapter 4 run where my base was basically at 1 HP. I’d already accepted it was a loss, but it somehow turned into a clear. The core of the run is a simple combo: mech MK-350 + Gatling Bard. MK-350 goes to the frontline, takes hits and still does decent damage. When the mech breaks, the pilot John pops out with low HP and keeps shooting. If he survives long enough to fill his gauge, he can call the mech back, a bit like Kled’s “back on mount” feeling. Bard’s job is just to stand behind and delete things with raw DPS. The risky part is the timing: I let the enemy walk all the way to my base first, then only start dropping units and items when they’re right in front of the core. If I’m even a bit late, the base just explodes; this time it barely held and turned into a very satisfying clutch.
