+Great performance
🟥Cons
-Combat is not that deep
-Reports of stingy gacha rates

⭐️Score: 7/10
📖Story and Premise
The game is set in a world thrown into chaos by the appearance of potent crystals capable of combining various elements. You play as a custom-named orphan along with his squad of waifu female characters. The story is centered toward the players’ sister Rayna, who goes missing when she is targeted by mysterious assailants. Rayna is found but she is transformed into a giant crystal, this journey to save Rayna sets the stage for an epic adventure filled with mysteries and challenges.

🎨Graphics and Art Style
Echocalypse: Scarlet Covenant features authentic-looking anime sequences that contribute to the game's immersive atmosphere. However, during battles, chibi models are used instead that provide a charming and somewhat simplistic aspect to the combat scenes. During visual novel style dialogue scenes, high quality 2.5D versions of full size anime characters are used — more specifically — tailor-crafted to appease male fans with the sexy character designs. Despite the back and forthing between Full-size Anime, and Chibi, the art style is consistent, creating a cohesive and enjoyable aesthetic throughout the game. Honestly this is the game’s strongest point.

🎮Gameplay
Echocalypse: Scarlet Covenant revolves around assembling a team of six characters, each belonging to a faction and class, and dealing either physical or magical damage. The strategic depth lies in forming a balanced team, and positioning (either front or back) to tackle different challenges. There are various abilities, skills, and factions adds complexity to the combat system, encouraging players to experiment with different team compositions.

The game offers a diverse range of content, including the main story, daily activities, side stories called Regression, and PvP modes like Arena Cage Fight. There is also a base management element where you can constructing new facilities and assign characters to them to gain more passive rewards. The overall lineup of activities kept the game fresh and dynamic for me throughout my experience.
There are also neat features like the Sweep function for instant clearing of completed stages and the Skip to basically skip any non-essential/story encounter, as long as you are strong enough to actually clear it. It saves time and repetitiveness, especially since many of the mission encounters are only against random generic soldiers.

⚔️Combat
The combat is mostly automated, so the only thing that is important is actually leveling up your characters and their positioning in the squad (either front or back). During the course of combat encounters, players can also choose to activate special abilities called Neoliths during battle such as powerful AOE attacks and heals, but they too can be automated. Honestly, there’s not much layer to the combat aside from watching the pretty cool animations and awesome anime style sequences, but it gets old very fast. Fortunately, we get the aforementioned Skip battle option which is a great time saver.

⏫Progression and Monetization
Progression features traditional elements found in a hero collection gacha game, involving an energy system to limit play, leveling up characters, augmentation, breakthrough, and skill enhancement. The faction bonuses for deploying characters of the same faction and the synergy between characters add some strategic depth but it kind of limits the potential powerful lineups a little.

The game employs a gacha system for acquiring characters and Neoliths. As usual there are different banners that offers various summoning options with different rates and guarantees. My experience during the first few hours have been generous, as I’ve gotten some SSR characters and a lot of draws to kickstart my experience. but there are numerous reports of end-game stingy gacha mechanics and it does not bode well for the longevity of the game.

📊Technical Performance
Echocalypse: Scarlet Covenant ran very smoothly and its battery use is very light. I was able to run the game at max settings, 60FPS, and very low battery drain on my Snapdragon 888 device. I never experienced any slowdowns or lagging. However the game did crash one time, and I also experienced a minor bug that got me stuck and required a game restart.

⚖️Conclusion
Echocalypse: Scarlet Covenant shines as an alluring title in the gacha RPG landscape, offering a decent narrative, VERY appealing visuals, and a good variety of gameplay elements. However, there isn’t much depth in its actual combat. Still, if you love the sight of buxom beautiful Anime girls, enjoy a casual turn-based RPG experience with a bit of strategizing, and don’t mind the potential drawbacks in the end-game gacha system, this game could be worth a try
