BlazBlue Entropy Effect Reviews

This anime fighting game-inspired roguelite deserves your attention

SHOULD I PLAY BLAZBLUE ENTROPY EFFECT? Definitely give this one a shot if you’re a fan of great roguelites or the action-packed anime aesthetic of the BlazBlue series. This spin-off, BlazBlue Entropy Effect, sees familiar characters, move sets, and thumb-crushing combos of the BlazBlue fighting games translated into a roguelite action game formula. That makes for a challenging experience, but thanks to a tightly designed progression system and an intriguing story, I found it hard to put this game down.

New Roguelike Has Entered The Fight In The Blazblue Universe!

Blazblue is by far one of my favorite fighting games alongside KOF, Street Fighter and Mortal Kombat but when i heard that Blazblue is releasing on steam as an 2D side scroller roguelike i immediately jumped on it. Today were gonna be talking about my first impressions during my time playing blazblue.  Blazblue allows players to play with 8 different characters from the blazblue universe and starting out you can play as Hibiki which they're rocking two swords. This is a 2D side scroller roguelike so keep in mind a lot of elements like power ups in between rounds or even having one life and being sent back to the shadow realm. Youll see in the gameplay that in between rounds players can be able to choose to buy stuff from shops to further upgrade your characters or give them bonuses to help out.

THE DIRECTION THEY TOOK THIS SERIES WAS GREAT!

Game: BlazBlue Entropy Effect Platform: PC Genre: Action Roguelike, Multiplayer (PvP), Hack'n'Slash Overview If you expect this new title in the series to be similar to their past releases. You would be mistaken, as they have opted to take a very bold approach to the popular BlazBlue series of fighting games and expanded out with an attempt on something new. BlazBlue Entropy Effect is a 2D side scrolling action roguelike with metroidvania elements sprinkled in if you can survive long enough to reach that point.

Slick anime style in an action roguelite package - BlazBlue Entropy Effect Quick First Impressions

SHOULD I PLAY BLAZBLUE ENTROPY EFFECT? Play it if you love top-notch anime visuals or are a fan of roguelite platformers like Dead Cells, Risk of Rain, or Rogue Legacy. It’s an odd mix, but it works: ARC System Works’ fantastic animation style paired up with a punchy, evolving combat system and a cyberpunk world full of mysteries to uncover makes for a thrilling experience, even if it can be a bit confusing at first.

Roguelite Meets Fighting Game? - BlazBlue Entropy Effect Quick Review

IS ENTROPY EFFECT WORTH WATCHING? Now, I'm a -huge- fan of Roguelites, especially the games that lean a lot heavier into sidescrolling action, or spectacle fighters. Combine that with an overarching fondness for the Blazblue franchise (Though I still need to play Centralfiction), and you can likely see why I was excited to dip my toes into 91Act's BlazBlue: Entropy Effect. And honestly? Despite being an early-access title, the content itself feels incredibly solid.

BlazBlue’s strange take on the roguelite genre | First Impressions - BlazBlue Entropy Effect

In a surprising departure from the series' established norm of being known for its renowned fighting games, BlazBlue Entropy Effect boldly ventures into uncharted territory with its unique take on the roguelite genre, albeit a bit strangely done. At the core of BlazBlue Entropy Effect lies an addictive gameplay loop that seamlessly intertwines side-scrolling action with the exploratory nature of Metroidvania games. The game features four meticulously designed level types—Night City, Ruins, Research Base, and Sakura City—each presenting distinct challenges, bosses, and enemy types to conquer.

BlazBlue Entropy Effect - A FANTASTIC Roguelike Sidescroller In The BLAZBLUE Franchise!

I'd say that Blazblue Entropy Effect is a fantastic sidescrolling roguelike game that I really enjoyed a lot. The combat was fast paced and in your face, with almost blinding combat effects that are so much fun to look at. The characters are gorgeous and each different character has a unique fighting style. If you love the blazblue franchise, but wanted something different, then maybe this is the game for you. It's both challenging and super fun. I found myself shouting out loud when I took down a boss because it was an entertaining challenge. I enjoyed this game so much that I feel it deserves a 9/10 overall score! I highly recommend it.

BLAZBLUE HAS DEVIATED AND IT WORKED OUT SO WELL!

Personally I've don't often play fighting games because they're not my favorite style of genre. Not that I don't play ever; it's just not a thing I am ever really interested in. So when I learned that BlazBlue had a new title and genre, I was surprised. Developers rarely step outside of their comfort zone in an attempt to explore new things, particularly at the level that Entropy Effect provides in terms of story, visual flair, and build customization or just overall gameplay challenge.

You are also capable of exchanging the points youll come across in game for supplies like more health or xp bonuses.
