AFK Arena is one of the most addictive idle games I've ever played, but AFK Journey improves upon it in every way. Everything about it is amazing, from its stunning character designs to its strategic battles to its immersive world. While it's techniquely an idle battler, it's a game that's impossible to tear yourself away from. There's always something to do in AFK Journey, and if you feel like playing it for hours, you can absolutely do so. That flexibility might be my favorite thing about the game. The gameplay had me hooked right from the start, so I got in a good long play session before I took my first break. When I came back, there were tons of idle rewards waiting for me. I love that I can switch between playing it non-stop and treating it as a standard idle game.

The latest patch 3.0 for Aether Gazer introduced a slew of new content including the main story chapter 19. Tokyo Ghoul: Break the Chains presents the exact same stuff I’ve seen a million times before across the long string of samey mobile gacha games I’ve tried over the years. It doesn’t contain an original idea in its gameplay or design. This lack of originality would make for a boring game no matter what, but it’s especially disappointing given the brilliance of the anime, light novel series, and manga it’s based on.
