The best (and best-looking) Metroidvania since Hollow Knight - Afterimage Quick Review

PLAY IT OR SKIP IT? If you’ve got any appreciation for the Metroidvania style of game at all, then you owe it to yourself to play Afterimage. Coming off a successful Kickstarter campaign just a year ago, developer Aurogon Shanghai has released the next masterpiece in a masterpiece-heavy genre. With tight controls, compelling progression and exploration, and especially a stunning hand-drawn art style, Afterimage pays homage to the classics while also undeniably forging its own strong identity via a fascinating and diverse fantasy world. It’s really good.

This creepy platformer just might give you nightmares

SHOULD I PLAY UGLY? Give Ugly a go if you’re into platformers, puzzlers, or dark fairy-tale worlds. Even though controlling two characters simultaneously in a mirrored world can be incredibly disorienting, Ugly’s puzzle mechanics are truly unique and blend perfectly with the game’s dark atmosphere. And though I wouldn't classify Ugly as horror, there were still plenty of twisted memories to unlock that genuinely gave me the creeps.

Beyond Mortality - A Journey Through ENDINGS

Embark on a thought-provoking odyssey in "ENDINGS," a game that beckons players into the enigmatic space between life and death. With 23 unique levels, this title promises a blend of platforming challenges, mind-bending puzzles, and an original narrative. Game Presentation: Graphics:   The game boasts high-quality art direction that manifests in a distinctive black-and-white aesthetic. The visuals effectively convey a tranquil yet eerie atmosphere, contributing to a sense of wonder and isolation.

Great game, Thought it was smash clone… It is but a good one that is just different enough but haves the same core mechanics of Smash but free. Now I game if 5 stars because this game is great but not entirely amazing, The issues I have it the characters some feel a little to good and some feel bad to play and clunky. Ranked is kind of a mess as well lag switchers and cheaters in the higher ranks as well, But the games where it was legit that is where the fun is!

#TheMostChallengingPlatformer

Others have already nominated some very good and hard platformers and I would like to nominate my personal favourite, Celeste. In Celeste, you play as a girl who is climbing a mountain to confront her fears. Throughout the mountain, there are several unique areas to explore and characters to meet. The game is insanely challenging to say the least but everything seems fair when you reach the top: the peak of the mountain. It is the most satisfying feeling ever and I cannot convey it though words only.

Super Mario Bros. Wonder is the best 2D Mario game in decades—and it also has dancing piranha plants

Not long after I started Super Mario Bros. Wonder, I was treated to an impromptu musical number. The mountains in the background bounced in time with the music. Piranha plants sang in perfect harmony. Some of them even jumped out of their pipes so that they could shake what their mama gave them. It’s the kind of showstopping scene that some games might save for a later act, but Super Mario Bros. Wonder

This game is NOT like what the Play store page says!

Actually I really-really love this game. And so is everyone else. If you see around, the other releases cost 10× this one, so play this one instead. That is.... If your phone can actually handle heavy games. No wonder the game is badly reviewed on Play Store. Only ⭐ 3.5??? Most of them caused by performance issue on low end Helio phones that's pushed beyond recognition to play a AAA release. I mean Handy games should put a proper minimum requirements on the page so people at least know what to expect!

A Mobile Puzzle Platformer You MUST Try! | Ugly Quick Review

Ugly is a fantastic puzzle platformer that punches far above its weight in the mobile gaming space. Combining gorgeously illustrated artwork and environments with a hauntingly somber and melancholic ambience and soundtrack, Ugly honestly deserves to be sued for false advertising. This game is damn beautiful. But a game’s visuals can only take it so far. Luckily, Ugly is also held up by extremely competent platforming and deceptively challenging puzzles.

Call of Duty 2024: Black Ops 6

"Call of Duty 2024: Black Ops 6" or what it will entail. However, based on the past "Call of Duty" releases, it is likely that the game will be a first-person shooter game set in a military or war-themed environment with a focus on multiplayer gameplay. It may also include a single-player campaign mode with an engaging storyline and a variety of multiplayer modes, including team deathmatch, domination, and search and destroy.

A Hauntingly Beautiful Mobile Puzzle Platformer! | Ugly Review

Ugly is a macabre puzzle platformer set in a twisted fairy tale world. Its beautiful art style is evocative of the innocence that exudes from the drawings of children warped by the scars of trauma and abandonment. You play as the unnamed prince who sticks out like a sore thumb. He is our titular “ugly” character with his harsh eyes and bulbous nose, a stark contrast to the sophistication and hand-crafted beauty that surrounds him in the vast castle. Perhaps that is why the story starts with him waking up locked away in the basement, hidden away from the world.

The sequel to one of the most brutal, disgusting Metroidvanias ever is about to launch

If you played the original Blasphemous anytime since it came out in 2019, then you know it was a disturbingly bloody little game that proved that pixel-art graphics can still bring the gore and grossness. And if you played it, you'll also know that on top of being filled with messed up enemies and cutscenes, it was also an extremely good Metroidvania. But whether you played the first game or not, you should take note of the impending release of

Pepper Grinder brings retro vibes, power tools, and pirates together in an awesome platformer

SHOULD I PLAY PEPPER GRINDER? Play It, especially If you like retro graphics, buried treasure, and power tools. Pepper Grinder is a great (and great-looking) pixelated platformer. I had a blast drilling through bedrock, spinning through enemies, and looking for treasure in this short but sweet demo. TIME PLAYED I sank around an hour into Pepper Grinder. The demo only features a few levels, but it still showed off what the game was all about. I learned all the basic mechanics, was introduced to the story, and most importantly, got to spend plenty of time drilling!

Sonic the Hedgehog has a fresh new look in his latest 2D adventure - and he's brought some friends

Sonic games can be hit or miss, but we'd say the titles have a much higher hit rate. That's why we were so happy to hear that everyone's favorite superfast blue hedgehog is returning to his roots in Sonic Superstars. While this latest Sonic the Hedgehog adventure is in 2D, that doesn't mean it looks like a Genesis game. Superstars has a nice new art style that's more modern and flashy, and if the above trailer is anything to go off of, it looks like it's full of surprises as well.

This first-person parkour game is the perfect follow-up to Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty

SHOULD I PLAY GHOSTRUNNER 2? If you love the cyberpunk aesthetic or are looking for something with a similar vibe to play after wrapping up Cyberpunk 2077’s new DLC, then yes, definitely give this one a shot. Ghostrunner 2 is the sequel to a first-person sci-fi ninja game that launched back in 2020. That first game was already an awesome, adrenaline-pumping journey through a messed up neon future, but this one amps everything up to eleven. It is a supremely challenging, brutal, and beautiful game that deserves your attention.

Ubisoft resurrects Prince of Persia in a fantastic new Metroidvania form

SHOULD I PLAY PRINCE OF PERSIA: THE LOST CROWN? Yes! As a long-time fan of the Prince of Persia franchise, I was excited to see it coming back, but even gamers who are totally unfamiliar with previous games should be able to find plenty to love in Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown. This reboot puts players into the role of Sargon, a warrior of Persia who must venture into the dangerous region of Mount Qaf after the prince is kidnapped. In gameplay terms, that means exploring a fascinating region in the form of a tightly designed 2D Metroidvania-style adventure.

This sword-swinging Metroidvania recalls Hollow Knight in the best way - Doomblade Quick Review

PLAY IT OR SKIP IT? Play it! Doomblade is a challenging but charming Metroidvania that gives off Hollow Knight vibes but manages to have a unique identity all its own. Stepping into the shoes of a tiny, tentacled creature known as Gloom Girl, I picked up an evil, sentient sword and set out on an intense adventure to take out the Dread Lords, otherworldly baddies who’ve wiped out the Gloomfolk and created a dystopian world. That adventure challenged my skills as much as anything I’ve played this year, but it was well worth fighting through to explore this wild, interesting world.

HAAK is a Metroidvania-Platformer. I really enjoyed the game from start to finish. The main quests are just so good because of smooth progression of the game. Side quest are also worth the time to do them. Just was felt sad to end it. I played this game on my Android phone, sometimes with controller to make it a little easier to beat the bosses. 📖 Storyline: The game takes place in a world ravaged by disaster. The once glorious city has been reduced to ruins, and the survivors struggle for survival.
