Infinite Borders is A gacha-style strategy game entering its closed beta test phase. And though it's gotten quite the hype in Asia, my first thought was, is this just another PTW strategy game? And although I didn't hit any paywalls in my playthrough, there are certainly things that stood out (for better and for worse), which ultimately left me thinking that Infinite Borders is worth keeping an eye on.

I love tower defense games, and I have a self-admitted weakness for gacha when it's done right, so of course Watcher of Realms was going to appeal to me! In this title, each of my towers was represented in the form of a character I could pull from the gacha and power up individually through leveling, equipping gear, and so on. It's sort of like Defense Derby, but with a more traditional (read: boring) high fantasy visual style.

I've played FGO, Genshin, EpicSeven, Tower of Fantasy and Arknights to know how generous PGR is (tho Arknights is also very nice on new banner in 10 pull guaranteed 6*/5* spook? sheeeeesh yes please.) I went into the closed beta test for Kemono Friends: Kingdom knowing basically nothing about this franchise beyond the fact that there has been at least one previous mobile game and a semi-popular anime series. So if you're a hardcore fan, know that my opinion is based solely on the little bit I've played of this latest mobile game in the series and nothing else. That said, that little bit I've played is pretty dang fun! Kemono Friends takes place in a world where animals have been transformed into anime waifus, who in turn are at war with a more aggressive breed of mutated creature called "Ceruleans." I took on the role of a newcomer to this strange world who had amnesia but was able to help out in the fight against the Ceruleans.

This game has such a nice feel to it. You can tell it's polished off well and has direction. If this game get's regular updates, to keep things interesting, then you got a cracker of a game. 🎮 Gameplay: It's a gacha and card collector. The gacha rates are fair and even the value of packs, should you want to spend, are very well priced. I've played the game free to play and haven't had any issues with clearing the story or the side challenges presented. Basically, you select a God, each God has different abilities, then you play the story to gather cards which are your abilities. These cards form your deck which will act as your God's skills in battle. You also have passives and side skills that boost your decks ability such as mana regeneration or swapping your hand for another hand. Also, yes this game uses mana to cast abilities. Your chosen skills/cards each have a mana cost assigned to them. The battle system is very fluid and tactful and should keep your interest, however, I'm still quite early in the game so I can't talk about PvP, or even if it has PvP, but I am hooked and give this game the props it deserves.

The Tale of Food is a cozy gacha RPG that, true to its name, revolves around food. It's set in a universe where the most delicious meals take on human form and become "Food Souls." As the heir of the Food God, it's your job to protect these human delicacies and travel the world in search of more souls. Lots of gacha games revolve around collecting waifus, but the collectible characters in Tale of Food are male. You can even give them gifts, which makes it feel a bit like an otome game. Some Food Souls have great designs, but I never felt pressured to spend money to collect more characters. I was able to build a solid party through standard gameplay.
