SEGA is considering releasing Persona 5 spin-off mobile game Persona 5: The Phantom X in Japan and worldwide, the company said in its latest financial report. “Future expansion in Japan and global is under consideration,” reads a bullet point in the Persona 5: The Phantom X section of the report. Persona 5: The Phantom X launched on April 12 in China, and on April 18 in Taiwan and South Korea. According to SEGA, the game is “starting off as expected” in those territories.

Perfect World Games and Black Wings Game Studio showcased a trailer for Persona 5: The Phantom X at TapTap Game Conference 2023, introducing a fresh character and revealing Koki Uchiyama as the voice of the protagonist, codenamed "Wonder." This is my most expected mobile game of the year! Persona 5: The Phantom X, based on Persona 5's universe but optimized for mobile, is being developed by Perfect World Games and Black Wings Studio with oversight from SEGA and ATLUS' P-Studio. Set in Tokyo, the game charts a new group of student Phantom Thieves navigating a low-desire era and battling in palace-themed worlds. Protagonist and Persona designs are by Shigenori Soejima of the ATLUS art team.

Publisher Perfect World Games and developer Black Wings Game Studio will begin the second closed beta test—the “Awakening Test”— on August 18 taken place in China, the companies announced. Persona 5: The Phantom X for iOS and Android has been formally revealed by publisher Perfect World Games and developer Black Wings Game Studio after a teaser announcement in April 2021. Although a release date was not specified, it will be a free-to-play game with in-app payments based on items. The "Infiltration Test" playtest is currently accepting registrations at the official website, and it will start in China on March 29.
