Tencent ESG Report Shows a 12.4% Turnover Rate and Efforts to Reduce Gaming Time for Minors

In the Environmental Social and Governance Report 2021, Tencent mentioned its efforts to reduce the time that the minors spend on playing games and the 12.4% turnover rate, among other issues.
In detail, as also shown in its financial report, the minors’ gaming time has decreased by 88% year on year in the China domestic market in Q4 of 2021, to 0.9% of the total players’ gaming time. The spending on games by minors dropped by 73% in the China Domestic market year on year, to 1.5% of the total expenditures.
The company stated that in 2021, its turnover rate was 12.4%, a relatively stable level.
The company has also made its efforts to guarantee the rights of employees, as in April, the company released an anti-sexual harassment regulation. The report said that currently, there were 25% of female leaders in the staff composition.

Weilin Li A local research institute has reviewed 20 Chinese mobile games in its efforts to protect minors from game addiction. Honor of Kings was rated most effective, getting 85 points out of 100. Just behind that, Game for Peace and Naruto: Ultimate Storm both earned 83 points. With Onmyoji and Minecraft’s Chinese version, these five mobile games belonged to the First Tier. The institute releasing this report is the Southern Finance and Economics Compliance Tech Research Institute.

Chinese Companies Clarify Gaming Time for Minors Ahead of Holidays.
Tencent Games today announced the restrictive gaming time calendar for the upcoming Labor Day Holiday, which permits minors to spend one-hour gaming from 20:00 to 21:00 for each planned day. The Labor Day holiday is scheduled for May 1st to May 4th this year. But according to last year’s national regulation, gamers under the age of 18 can only play games from 20:00 to 21:00 on Fridays, weekends, and holidays.
