Adventure

Bayonetta Origins: Cereza and the Lost Demon is a masterpiece of a game that manages to be even better than Bayonetta 3. I got so much out of Bayonetta Origins that finishing the game left me feeling bittersweet. It’s pretty rare that a game moves me this much.

I’m always down for a good card game, but a good card game that might just teach me how to save the world? Now that’s something special. Beecarbonize is a card and resource management game that’s all about building a clean, safe future before the environment is destroyed by global warming.

Even though I was occasionally baffled, I really enjoyed my time in the mysterious world of Limbus Company. For the addictive strategy gameplay to the strange characters and story, this is definitely a title that stands out!

Mato Anomalies is too great of a game to pass on. This visually stunning RPG explores a neo-futuristic world of crime and darkness with a well-written storyline and anime-inspired art style that reminded me of the Persona franchise. It’s a must-try for anyone that enjoys a good adventure.

Paranormasight hooked me right from the start, and its hold on me was so deep that I stayed up until 4 a.m. to finish the game. Visual novels live or die on the quality of their writing, and Paranormasight hit it out of the park here.

Remaking one of the most beloved games of all time is no small task, but Capcom has pulled it off effortlessly. This new vision for Resident Evil 4 not only lives up to the original but actually surpasses it by tightening up some of the weaker segments from the original and focusing in on the tight gunplay and horror that made it an all-time masterpiece.

Tchia feels distinct from The Legend of Zelda, but at times I was reminded of certain games in that series, like The Wind Waker and Breath of the Wild. The immersive world of Tchia is inspired by New Caledonia, an island in the South Pacific Ocean where the game’s developers live. This underexplored setting helps the game stand out and leads to moments that feel magical.

Terra Nil looks like a city builder, but it’s really more of a puzzle game. Once I healed a map’s ecosystem, I had to figure out how to tear down my equipment, recycle it, and airlift it out, leaving the lush wilderness pristine and peaceful once again. It’s the first game I’ve played that let me build something, watch it develop and bloom, and then pack up and leave, without a trace of my presence remaining afterward.

RPGCard

While lots of games have cards or deckbuilding elements, everything in Voice ofCards is made of cards—from characters to weapons to monsters to the ground you walk on. It also has a rich and detailed story, filled with magic, dragons, and living skeletons. If you love tabletop games, fantasy RPGs, or cards, you’ll definitely want to give this a shot!

Wo Long is easy to tag as the successor to developer Team Ninja’s Nioh series, but this Soulslike RPG adds some new ideas and shaves off some of the maximalist elements of its predecessors. Thanks to those smart changes, Wo Long is one of this year’s must-play games for action diehards.
