If you’ve played Arena of Valor, League of Legends: Wild Rift, or even Mobile Legends: Bang Bang and enjoyed it, Heroes Arise will probably be up your alley—but don’t expect anything new or out of the ordinary. Heroes Arise is a free-to-play multiplayer online battle arena similar to League of Legends or Dota 2, but I didn’t enjoy playing it.
I got tired of playing Heroes Arise after an hour into the game. It’s nothing interesting or vaguely different from every other title in the genre and it doesn’t feel exciting to play. There’s nothing significant at all that differentiates it from other games on the market that makes it even remotely special. And most of the characters oddly resemble those from other games like League of Legends and Dota 2. For example, Luka looks and plays like Garen from League of Legends, while Crystal feels pretty similar when compared to Crystal Maiden from Dota 2.
In terms of design, Heroes Arise is pretty similar to Arena of Valor of Mobile Legends: Bang Bang in the way it’s structured from the menu and interface to the gameplay itself. There are cosmetics to collect and game modes to enjoy like quick play and ranked, but It’s all pretty much the same things in a new game.
Does this mean Heroes Arise is terrible and not worth playing at all? Not really. Heroes Arise does have decent animation and graphics and there’s a lot of content in it to keep someone busy. The game from the bottom up is actually pretty well-made and polished, even in its beta testing phase. I think people who generally enjoy playing online battle arenas will learn to love Heroes Arise. I also reckon that people that regularly play Arena of Valor or Mobile Legends: Bang Bang will find Heroes Arise slightly refreshing and enjoyable. But if you’re like me and aren’t overly obsessed with this genre, Heroes Arise will feel really boring, repetitive, and ordinary.
