Killer Frequency is a puzzle solving story driven choices matters horror game.
The game turns the horror genre upside-down with a groundbreaking type of narrative story telling. Solve the mysteries of Gallows Creek while serving as a stand-in detective and personal coach to all of the residents of the town you're DJing for on a late night radio talk show called 816.9 "The Scream!"
It's amusing, intelligent, and witty yet also stressful and memorable at times!
Story
Gallows Creek
You arrive at Gallows Creek Radio Station, your new place of employment. You're supposed to work here for the next three weeks before your vacation, but things go wrong when you get a phone call from the sheriff's office in town.
Before you know it, you're stepping in as a 911 dispatcher instead of a late-night radio show DJ. You'll need all of your resources to save as many lives as possible while also uncovering the truth. It's some of the best story writing and voice acting I have seen and heard in quite a long time.
Gameplay
Amazingly fun
The game is far too short. But it's full of sharp witted humor and delight at every turn. Except for a few challenges, the puzzles are rather simple, and you can interact and carry mostly anything out of the offices and around the radio station to brighten up your work environment. I continued rushing back to get more milk and soda to give the impression that I was just a really thirsty hard worker.
Even with the few jumpscares and music, the game never felt like a true horror game during the entire game, despite being a horror game. It was excellent from start to finish, and I could definitely see myself playing through another complete 100% playthrough for genocide and survival runs.
Features
Talking with the citizens of the town to obtain information and to assist where possible, playing advertising and music while going off the air to achieve side objectives, and talking to your co-host for assistance when required.
Problem
Audio once again
I was expecting that there would be a few things I could do on my end to fix the dialogue skipping, but it did not work. I grew accustomed to it over time, but it lasted to the finish, frequently cutting out before I could receive the information I needed to fill in the gaps in the story at times, which was relatively frustrating.
Conclusion
Take your time
I can't say more as it would spoil the whole story and game experience for you, but as you can probably guess I had a great time playing. The unfortunate part is that it is now done, and I would like to see more from the developers in the near future; this style of gaming has the potential to be a massive thing with deeper lore and stories covering a wide range of issues, not just horror stories.
The faster you finish this game, the faster it will be over, so take your time and complete the full story as effectively as you can while having as much fun as you can. Immerse yourself; you don't get to play something novel every day.
This concludes my views of this game; while my opinions may be met with criticism, that is what distinguishes gamers; you don't have to like the same things as others, nor do you have to agree with them.
If you want to catch me on one of my streams or locate me on social media, you may do so at the following locations, I'm always playing something new.
