Metal Slug but with Stats and Gachas.

For me Metal Slug has always been a very simple game, you pick a character, jump into mission and start shooting anything that move with a pistol while evading enemy projectile plus 1 hit and you're dead.
Metal Slug: Awakening however doesn't follow that rule anymore, Character now has:
HP bar. (Medkit spawn constantly during mission btw)
Equipment for stats boost that need Upgrade.
Reloadable Fully automatic Machine Gun, Bazooka and Shotgun that also need Upgrade. (Where's my starter Pistol SNK?)
Despite the game let me having Full Auto Mechinegun they still drop weapon like Flame shot, Laser Beam and other pickable weapon with limited ammo.
*edit* Game's also playable with 3 Switchable character with Ultimate.(WTH SNK that's Honkai Impact shit!)
Character also speak for the first time in the siries.
There's also PVP apparently and it's kinda suck, movement are slow so if an opponent get the first shot you're just gonna exchange shot against each other until either player HP out, you can't outrun your opponent.
Not much strategy need to play PVP, jumping to evade aren't really effective as this game has auto target even during PVP.
Overall it's an okay game, it's not bad but not great either.

GAMEPLAY Straight to the point! The gameplay is the usual Metal Slug gameplay you know and love but with much more added fun to it ! There are so many characters , vehicles and weapons to choose from and play with, this also includes the many bosses you will meet and fight as well as the multiple different modes the game offers besides the main storyline.
Charecters! There are some of the many characters the game give you as you progress, you can make a team of 3 as u finish the stages and fight bosses!

Metal Slug: Awakening [Gameplay]
The gameplay is fairly consistent throughout the game, focusing on basic running, jumping, shooting, and bayoneting an endless array of soldiers, with the occasional tank emplacement and helicopter thrown in. The only real gameplay variation comes in a couple of vehicle sequences where your soldier has the opportunity to do the exact same thing as he has been doing--only in a fully articulated one-man tank or a small fighter plane.

Play this one, especially if you’re a fan of the original Metal Slug series or like the simplicity of old-school run-and-gun games. Metal Slug: Awakening takes all the familiarities of this side-scrolling shooter and brings them into the modern age. It’s been a minute since I’ve played any Metal Slug games, but I’d be damned if I wasn’t impressed with the three-dimensional visuals, fully voiced cast, online multiplayer, and the barrage of weapons I could use to destroy all manner of freedom-hating enemies across the map.

its a remake in modern time, what did u expect? super mario 64? think for a bit please, modern games + online servers require money to maintain AND the devs to get some pocket money for motivation... you want metal slug awakening to be metal slug SNK? well you're gonna be disappointed idk why its not great when they left most of the mechanics intact... in not talking about anything else beside the gameplay and mechanics, it gives nostalgia even if they made new maps etc... you're not a true MS fan :) im out

His reaction is pretty normal for someone, whose childhood memory just got dismembered, raped and reassembled (not nessesary in this order). Also, please don't bring devs into this. All those insane monetisation and 'involvment' mechanics come from greedy publishers, who have little to no care about game itself, the only thing they want is to milk your fanatical devotion before you run away crying with empty wallet. And devs just recieve their usual payment for every new game.
