Overview
A very delightful nostalgic experience. I have not actively engaged in playing games of this genre for a considerable period of time, ever since I stopped playing the Clash of Clans series a few years after its initial release. I have fond memories of the enjoyable experience of collaborating with fellow clan members, assisting them in safeguarding their bases, and providing valuable insights into optimal layout strategies and defensive requirements. Rebel Bots: Epic War aligns precisely with my preferences. However, the primary concern that I find impossible to ignore is the blatant contempt for gamers, such as myself, who seek more strategic gameplay that is not determined by the extent of financial resources in their possession.
Issue
I comprehend the concept of a battle pass and the notion of endorsing the game through the purchase of decorative items, I find it difficult to put up with the concept of investing money in cards to get enhanced iterations of troops, only to pit them against a novice player who possesses significantly weaker versions, that is not strategy. Although players have the option to get in the game and gradually enhance their units, as they progress further, they will encounter opponents with significantly superior units all because they have either played longer or spent a lot of money.
Graphics & Presentation
The visuals in the form of SuperCell's style is quite nice. They are vivid and fun, exuding a delightful and playful cartoon aesthetic. If this game lacked its inviting appearance, vibrant colors, and lively atmosphere, it would be perceived as just another military simulation game that fails to captivate the players' interest.
Gameplay / Combat
This game is a highly competitive and demands strategic defense and management game. Combat with AI opponents yields no tangible benefits, hence the sole role you will be playing in, is to engage in combat against another human player.
For individuals who prioritize enjoyable and immersive leisure gameplay over competitive gameplay, may be extremely discouraged. Unfortunately, this option is not available to you because the whole of the game is focused on PvP.
Conclusion
Although the game's integrity is undermined by the in-game pay-to-win elements, if you can overlook this issue and concentrate on the fundamental gameplay without dwelling on the knowledge that your opponent has a 5% boost in damage and bonus health, then it is really fun. While I see the potential for this game to become a timeless classic, I must admit that its current state does not compel me to revisit it.
