The Ultimate "How-to" for GLORIA

Hey guys! I have noticed that a lot of new and returning players are having a hard time mastering this very versatile hero. Gloria in most cases can be very oppressive in battle if utilized correctly and effectively. Here I will be breaking down all of her quirks and abilities, some tips and tricks, and give you the information needed to squeeze as many kills from this hero as possible. I'll be covering basic information, but also more advanced technics so you can get a better understanding of gloria in a more "big picture" sense of the hero. I personally love Gloria and think she is by far one of the best, but also one of the most misused heroes in game.

Overview:

Gloria is a powerhouse of hero that can be overwhelming if not handled correctly by the enemy team, or can be easy pickings if not used correctly by new/inexperienced players. Her kit is one of the most versatile in game because it covers all ranges (short/medium/long). She has one of the best fire power outputs in game, wielding an AR (ZMR Assault Rifle) and a shotgun (MD-2 Double-Barreled Shotgun). She can be utilized as a fantastic backliner with her 2nd Ult (Amplifier Module) , a flanker (with her passive ability), and an objective/payload "suppressant" (which in these terms I mean that she can hold an objective if need be, semi effectively solo).

Understanding of Primary Fire:

Glorias primary fire is her double barreled shotgun (MD-2 Double-Barreled Shotgun). While it is out, her movement is normal and she isn't scoped in, allowing for more flick type movement and playstyle. This should be the default selection when you are not engaged in battle. Remember, you want to be able to move freely and be able to observe as much of your FOV as possible during most periods of the game (you can't always react accordingly if you are always scoped in with a reduced FOV, and movement:**FOV means Field of View if you don't quite understand what that means, its how much of an area you can see in front and around you). Her primary fire in comparison is weaker than the other two shotguns wielders in game (Diggy/Victor), but makes up for it with rate of fire. YOU WANT TO HIT HEADSHOTS, but you also want to be moving and jumping in close quarter combat scenarios. Practice in the training solo arena on the Mark dummy model provided to practice "jumping flick shots". You want to be able to shoot and jump at the same time, while being able to hit your target consistently.
Key points:
  • Learn the "Jump and Flick" with your shotgun
  • Place FOV on your priority list
  • Land effective shots (preferably headshots)
  • Your shotgun should be the default weapon to prioritize a move fluid playstyle and moving from "point A to B"

Understanding of Active Ability:

1st Active Ability (ZMR Assault Rifle) - Glorias active ability is her AR (ZMR Assault Rifle). It is a powerful weapon, with fantastic accuracy in medium to long range engagements. Be mindful to not stay scoped in for long durations of time. Her damage output potential is reduced if an enemy is able to close the gap and fight in glorias blind spots while her FOV is reduced. Familiarize yourself with quickly putting your AR away and pulling out your shotgun in these moments. Trying to strongarm your way though close quarter engagements with you AR can prove to be an uphill battle on its own (especially if the enemy player is a flanking hero). One of the best mechanics of the game that gun wielding heroes can utilize is the "right hand peak". (For those that don't know) The "right hand peak" is a technic utilized heavily in all 3PS (3rd Person Shooters). How to achieve this technic is by placing your character model as close to cover and into cover as possible, while also having your crosshair still exposed to potential enemies. This technic reduces potential incoming fire almost to zero, while also allowing you to not only hold numerous angles, but to be a challenge to remove from said angles. Yes, can you stand in the backline freely, and lay down suppressive fire, sure you can, but it's better to utilize the right hand peak as much as possible to drastically improve survivability on the battlefield (your K/D and win-rate will thank me later). Also, movement while scoped is a key fundamental of using Gloria effectively. Practice on the Mark dummy in the training arena, how to properly scope in, shoot, and jump from numerous angles. This will allow you to take on fights with heroes that have one shot potential (Hua Ling, Ossas, and Lacia), and will not make you so much of a, "sitting duck" in these engagements.
2nd Active Ability: Glorias second active ability is one of, if not the most, annoying active abilities in game if used correctly. The mini bomb that she carries can do solid damage and has two charges per one bomb. I see a lot of new/ returning players placing the bomb in less than optimal places ( directly in the middle of lanes, too far in front of door ways, or just completely not using them). The mini bombs have the ability of invisibility and survivability (they don't go away if and when you die) and we want to utilize that to our teams benefit. I believe that there are eight key ways to effectively use the mini bomb.
"8 Fundamentals of Mini Bomb Utilization"
  1. To be placed to the slight left of door openings (to prevent mistaken enemy auto fire and provide a buffer to flankers)
  2. directly on jump pads and slightly in front of jump pads
  3. Placed at where the jump pad will inevitably place an enemy (where an enemy will land from a jump pad)
  4. Throwing onto an enemy to initiate an engagement (doing this will usually kill an opponent if followed up by well placed shots, and for them to hit the bomb again on landing)
  5. On health packs or in the doorways leading to a health pack
  6. The blind side of a payload or an objective (the side that the enemy cannot initially see)
  7. To check "right hand peaker's" in doorways and hard to reach places
  8. Slightly behind where your character model is standing (to give me a semi clean getaway from a chasing enemy or to fight around in a potential close quarter engagement)
Key points:
  • Don't walk around with your AR out if you don't need to
  • Implement the "right hand peak" to hold angles without taking unneeded damage
  • Learn to quickly change from AR to shotgun in close quarter engagements
  • Learn to be scoped in and be able to land shots while moving (and jumping) effectively
  • Understanding the "8 fundamentals of mini bomb utilization"

Understanding of Ultimate's Utilization

Gloria has two solid and useful ultimate's. They are not as objective focused as other ultimate's in game. What I mean by this is, there not clearly dedicated to either payload escort or control (even though I personally prefer to use Amplifier Module" for my Gloria kit). Glorias two ultimate's are Quicksand Bomb (the default 1st Ult) and Amplifier Module (2nd Ult). I'll give you there official definitions upfront and then some utilization tips after each one.
Quicksand Bomb - "A thrown and timed bomb that initially slows down nearby opponents, before it detonates and inflicts significant damage"
  • Aim for the Tank (especially if they have support with them) - Utilizing your ultimate on tanks is a smart move because of the amount of hp they have. Doing a great amount to damage to them in one clean go can secure you that specific push from the enemy team. If they have their support following behind them you can surely secure that kill, and put that engagement in your teams favor.
  • Large clusters - This is a no-brainer,  two or more enemies in a tight space is an ideal environment for this Ult to shine!
  • blind side of payloads - Clever opponents will try and hide and push the payload from the blind side of the payload to reduce potential damage. Try and throw the bomb slight in front of where the enemy is heading
  • force movement - Some teams will hold a payload or an objective together, place that ult in the middle of them to create movement and forced them out into the open for easier engagements
  • Aim for Support (in high percentage matches) - The support role is the glue that keeps it all together in most games (more so in higher level lobbies). Removing this hero from the battlefield in high percentage games can be the difference your team needs to secure the win.
Amplifier Module - "Creates an energy amplifying force field that increases the damage of friendly weapons and abilities when they shoot through it
  • Throw slightly in front of congested payloads - Placing this ult in front of a payload will allow teammates from numerous angles to benefit and utilize this ultimate. The more teammates that get to use this ult, the more angles on the objective and enemy players, the better! Place it in front of an payload to allow the still moving place to place itself in a better position as it hits the center of the ultimate's AOE (Area of Effect).
  • Throwing in the middle of objectives - Placing this ultimate in the center allows numerous angle holding teammates to engage with a enemy team with a significant advantage. **REMEMBER: the more teammates that get to use this ult, the better.
  • Solo objective holding - This ult will allow you to more effectively solo hold and objective. By dealing more damage you can end fights quicker, possibly making the enemy team stagger their positioning and timing.
  • Infront of enemy spawn points - If you are defending the payload, and have just completed a team wipe, place this ult in front the enemy teams spawn once you see at least one enemy come out of spawn (Preferably the enemy teams tank).
We have covered a lot of information! I know that with consistent practice and time, you are going to drastically improve and further enjoy the game. As always...
I hope this helps,
-DR.TANKi

REVIEW ON GLORIA!!!(Snack skin)🍕 8.5/10 (show support if you want and i’ll do more) Me personally I average about 10 to 15 Kills per game with her, I think definitely if you’re going to get her max level her out!! I have her at level 10 with her special objective unlocked which gives you super speed whenever you walk that comes in handy💪 Definitely recommend to stay back and find the little hidden corners that’s the best way to play her honestly!! Also don’t forget when you’re out of ammo switch back to her other weapon ultimate powerhouse player🔥
