Grimvalor is a 2D action RPG with Metroidvania elements, developed by Direlight. Originally released for mobile, it later came to Nintendo Switch, proving that mobile games can also deliver a true console quality experience. You play as a lone warrior, tasked with uncovering the secrets of a fallen kingdom overrun by darkness. With lightning fast combat, challenging enemies, and a vast interconnected world, Grimvalor delivers a deep and dark adventure.
Gameplay Mechanics
Grimvalor blends precise combat with exploration and creating a highly engaging experience for players (us). Game Combat is Fast, Fluid & Skill Based so work smart not hard, game have Hack-and-slash mechanics with light and heavy attacks as every normal rpg game have, this game also have A perfect dodge system that give you uper hand in fights if you dodge on time with precision.
Game Enemies are strong, requiring strategy to defeat them not just button mashing, like every Metroidvania games Boss fights are intense, pushing your reflexes to the limit.
And Exploring a Dark Metroidvania World that filled with monsters is fun, game his Interconnected levels that is filled with secrets, shortcuts, enemies and hidden loot. You need to Upgrade your abilities to access new areas and defeat stronger enemies because if you go front of them like this you are nothing against them. This dark hauntingly beautiful world, with dark castles, ruined dungeons, and eerie landscapes feel scary and fun same time. And the world design encourages us to exploration more, making every discovery feel fun.
How It Feels to Play
Game Combat feels fast and fluid like a mix of Dark Souls and Devil May Cry in 2D. And The dark fantasy setting is mysterious and immersive that encourage you to explore and fight with bosses, I think I just play this games for boss fights 😅.
You also need to level up and upgrade your weapons this will help you in the game to find more hidden areas and diffting the bosses, and Diffting the bosses gives you a satisfaction and sense of progression. And When you finally master all the combat skills get all the upgrades then a tough boss fight, it feels incredible!

This game look stunning this proves that mobile games can also look great, Grimvalor have Gorgeous 2D graphics with detailed environments and smooth animations with a dark, gothic world filled with eerie ruins and menacing creatures that look horrible.
Game have A haunting soundtrack that perfectly matches the game's tone dark and bloody, Sound design adds impact to every attack and dodge.The graphics and sound combination create a gripping and immersive experience.
Story & Characters
The game start on a mysterious place Kingdom of Vallaris. You assume the role of a lone warrior on a mission to uncover the fate of the lost realm and its ruler, King Valor. The kingdom has fallen into corruption, when monstrous entities start emerging beyond its borders, prompting investigations that often end in tragedy.
The story unfolds as the protagonist battles through atmospheric landscapes and dungeons, seeking to restore the corrupted city. Throughout the journey, players encounter various notes and books that provide insights into the world and its inhabitants, shedding light on the events leading up to the kingdom's downfall.
Most of us played this game for action but game story also not bad.

We all know Metroidvania games is not all about story Even after completing the main game, there’s many more things to do like yoh can start hard Mode that give you more dark and strong gameplay or you can start a no damage strike. Game also have Hidden secrets and alternate paths to explore with different choose or going back with new abilities unlock new paths and story's for you, or you can just Speedrunn the game showcasing your skills and moment speed.
