Mobile Gaming is Dying… And No One's Talking About It

Hey everyone, welcome back to the channel. It’s me your buddy Ram, and today... I wanna talk about something that’s been on my mind for a while. something no one really wants to admit—mobile gaming is dying. Or at least, it's not what it used to be.
Yeah, I said it. And trust me, I don’t say that lightly. I’ve been part of this mobile gaming community for years. I’ve seen its rise, its golden days, and now… I’m watching it slowly fade away. Not completely dead, but man—it’s a shadow of what it was supposed to be.
Let’s take a trip back. 2020… now that was the peak. That year felt magical. Every month, some new banger was getting announced. We weren’t just getting casual games or clones anymore—we were getting full-blown FPS, TPS, RPGs, open-world titles, even PC and console ports. It felt like mobile gaming had finally earned its respect.
Big studios were jumping in, promising console-quality experiences right on our phones. We had Project Odin with its God of War vibes, Devil May Cry Mobile which looked insane, Code: Live teasing Resident Evil-style gameplay, and even titles like Wuthering Waves and Apex Legends Mobile bringing fast-paced, next-gen visuals to the palm of our hands. The hype was unreal, brother. Every trailer, every beta leak, it just felt like we were on the edge of something massive.
Then came 2021 and 2022, and we started getting small tastes—early access, limited tests, regional betas. It wasn’t perfect, but we were patient. We believed. We thought, “Okay, give them time. The full release is gonna blow our minds.”
But then... silence.
One by one, these hyped-up titles started to vanish. Some were “delayed indefinitely.” Some just went completely dark—no dev updates, no trailers, no nothing. Others got quietly cancelled without any explanation. And the ones that did launch? Most of them didn’t live up to the promise. Either the gameplay felt rushed, or the monetization killed the experience.
By 2023, the dream started to collapse. That golden vision we had in 2020? It was gone. And by the time 2024 rolled around, we weren’t getting new promising titles. We weren’t hearing about bold new projects. It was just silence... or worse, more of the same recycled content we’ve seen a hundred times.
And here we are in 2025. Look around. Where are the open-world mobile RPGs we were promised? Where are the tactical shooters, the immersive story-driven mobile games, the high-quality PC ports? Most of them are either cancelled, stuck in early development hell, or they’ve been forgotten completely. Some devs went dark. Some changed their direction to make fast money with gacha systems or auto-play mechanics. And honestly… it hurts.
Because we believed. We believed mobile could be more. And for a while, it really felt like it would be.
Now, mobile gaming isn’t dead. But it’s not alive the way it used to be. It’s not thriving. It’s on life support, being kept alive by copy-paste gacha games, endless idle RPGs, and battle passes that feel like chores instead of fun.
And you know what’s sad? It’s not that we ran out of ideas. It’s not that players didn’t care. It’s that the industry gave up on ambition. Somewhere along the way, the dream got replaced with microtransactions and safe bets. Creativity took a back seat. Passion was replaced by profits.
But maybe—just maybe—it’s not over yet. Maybe someone out there is still building something big in silence. Maybe there’s another golden age waiting down the line. But until then... we wait. And we remember.
So yeah, mobile gaming may not be dead. But the soul it once had? That magic we felt in 2020? That’s gone. And until we see real ambition again… I’m not afraid to say it—mobile gaming is dying.
Let me know what you think down in the comments. Did you feel the same shift? Are you still holding out hope like me? Or have you moved on to other platforms?
Either way, thanks for watching, brothers. Don’t forget to drop a like if this hit you in the feels, and subscribe if you’re still riding with me through the highs and the lows.
This is Ram09... signing off.

yup and that's why the call it and opinion. We haven't even got to the "golden age" he speaks of. we are still years off. but it's building. Delta Force is gonna be a major milestone for example.
