If Buying Isn’t Owning… Then Pirating Is Stealing?

In now days i always have one question in my mind "If buying isn’t owning something Then pirating is not stealing. At least, that’s what more and more people are starting to believe."

You walk into a digital store You pay money your hard earned money, and click to Buy But what did you actually get?

Not the game files Not the code Not even the right to use it forever You just get a license, A permission slip that can be taken away anytime they want.

In 2023, Sony removed hundreds of TV shows from user libraries. People who paid full price couldn’t watch what they legally bought. Then last year many Mobile games start shutting down some of them are, Apex legend mobile, Modern Combat versus and many more we paid for that games, we paid for gun skin's, battle passes but in the end our money is gone with the game.

And there No refunds No apologies and They call that buying are you serious, Piracy was used to be simple in old times, People stealing the content they didn’t pay for, But in today's time, It’s different, Some people pirate the game because the game isn’t available in their country. Others people pirate because DRM makes it unplayable offline And then most of the people pirate because it’s the only way to own the content permanently.

Piracy preserves Games, Piracy even respects your hardware more than official game versions, So is it always wrong?

Let’s flip the question, When you buy a game and it stops working because a server went down Now who stole from who? and When a company bans your account and deletes your purchases without any reason who’s the real thief here, When your digital library becomes a rental shelf, who lied to you? You can't upload the gameplay anymore on social media because the game developers don't have rights the music anymore or you are playing the old game in your console and they don't like it.

This isn’t about justifying piracy, This is about challenging the system, A system where You pay full price but get no control On things you brought, You follow the rules but get punished You support the devs but lose everything when the company shuts down, If piracy is stealing Then what is digital capitalism doing to us? What we call this.

Let’s be fair here, Developers work hard we all know that Games cost money and Support is important for them We also know that But when publishers treat their customers like criminals the same people who supported them when they needed When DRM breaks games and When modding is banned, refunds denied, access restricted what we do.

What choice do people have? People don’t pirate because they’re evil, They pirate because they feel trapped.

So here’s the truth, Buying isn't owning anymore, Pirating isn’t stealing anymore, It’s messy, It’s complicated and It’s human, And in a world where billion-dollar companies treat access like a loan, Maybe pirates aren’t the problem, Maybe they’re the resistance, Ownership must be earned Not be assumed.
