NoiaJr's Journey in the Magic Prison Tournament on Ragnarok Mobile SEA (Week 3rd)

Week 3 Review Week 3 brought yet another lineup change for us. Nic felt his Jormund wasn't progressing as expected, even though I thought his DPS was solid and just needed a bit more practice. So, the plan is for him to switch to Fenrir, who has better survivability. The catch? All our DPS would now be physical. Henlee also switched back to roaming with Rathgricy. We're making these adjustments because, by week 3, things are getting serious, and we can't rely on Thor's cling skill all the time. Honestly, Potank as Saint is outperforming our previous Saint by a mile. As someone playing Thor, this feels like a breath of fresh air. It’s such a relief knowing someone has my back when I'm suppressed. Nic’s switch to Fenrir is also a game-changer, providing excellent crowd control with Tomb.  The real challenge now is connecting all these pieces into a cohesive team. From the beginning, we've had good ideas but struggled with team cohesion, and that’s been a big problem for us. With everyone stepping up, we just need to figure out how to sync our strategies and work seamlessly together. Once we nail that, we'll be unstoppable! We're also running into issues with Map 3. Attica and I are used to playing very aggressively, pushing straight to the enemy base, while Ichwan and Nic prefer a slower, more tactical approach. This difference in playstyles makes coordination on Map 3 a real challenge for us. It feels like we're rolling the dice every time we play it. Speed and flipping the nodes to our control are not our strong points. These days, it's tough to solo kill a support, especially for me since I rely heavily on wind elemental attacks. The current meta makes it really hard to take down supports with a single DPS. This mismatch in our strategies and the difficulty of adjusting to each other’s pace is causing significant problems. We need to find a way to blend our aggressive and tactical approaches to make our team more cohesive and effective on Map 3. If we can achieve that, we'll have a much better chance of success. We’re still grappling with communication issues. Personally, I'm used to following instructions from the leader, but stepping up to lead or taking initiative is a challenge for me. This lack of confidence really shows on Map 3. It feels like we’re throwing all our power into just trying to survive while being relentlessly chased by enemy DPS, especially the CC-heavy Jormund (yes, they’re prevalent now). Freezing, stuns, and stone attacks are my biggest nightmares. Last season, I could rely on my natural resistance, boasting over 100 stun and freeze resist and 50 stone and snare resist. Before the King of Chaos update, this was usually enough to counter enemy DPS. However, now even with 200 freeze, 150 stun, and 100 stone resist, it’s still not sufficient. Investing more in resistance means sacrificing damage output, which leaves me unable to effectively deal with supports. These issues could be resolved if our team had the coordination and skill level of a team like Thai Champ, but unfortunately, we aren’t there yet. We need to focus on improving our communication and finding a balance between defensive resilience and offensive power. Enhancing our teamwork and adapting our strategies are crucial steps we need to take. If we can sync our playstyles and support each other better, we’ll be able to overcome these challenges and become a more cohesive and effective team. Long story short, we only managed to hold onto 300-400 points from our start in Week 3. This means we need to win 4-5 games in Week 4 to get close to the top 600. Potank has the least points, so we'll probably need an extra game to ensure he also makes it into the top 600.

Our #NinjaBoy received so much hate after he dumped #Hanabi for Chinese bobs. And yet he is continuously receiving love from #Moneyton in various forms and sizes. #Hayabusa was a good #Assassin in the past, until this game included mechanically OP champions like #Ling and #Lancelot. But now, after these small buffs, I can say he's a worthy pick yet again. So here comes a #Haya gameplay that I've been cooking for a while.

NoiaJr's Journey in the Magic Prison Tournament on Ragnarok Mobile SEA (Week 4th & Closing)

(Credit To our lost Saint) Finally, Week 4. Finally, Week 4 is here, and whether we're completely ready or not, we've logged on and geared up for battle. We had planned to gather on Discord at 9 PM GMT+7, with everyone getting set up and prepared by 9:30 PM GMT+7. However, we found ourselves waiting for Uncle Alvin to wrap up his game with his own team before he could join us. Despite the delay, the anticipation and determination among us were palpable as we geared up mentally for the challenges ahead. Each moment counted as we waited to synchronize our efforts and strategies for what lay ahead in our final push. Almost forgot to mention, at 6 PM GMT+7, we also worked on arranging Henlee's build for Rathgricy. We simplified it by creating two builds for him: a DPS build and a buff build. Additionally, we advised him to stick to the defensive lane, focusing on covering the ball holder and advancing only when necessary. This strategy is tailored for Maps 1 and 2 scenarios. Regarding Map 3, we're hopeful that we won't have to play many games there. Our plan is to possibly not play a full game, aiming to minimize our exposure to its challenges. But as always, the ROM developers found a way to throw a wrench into our plans. That day, we faced 7 matches in Map 3, 2 in Map 2, and 1 game in Map 1. Let's start from the beginning of the game, shall we? At the outset, we kicked off with an impressive 3-game win streak. Our lineup was firing on all cylinders, bulldozing through the competition with three consecutive victories in Map 3. It's somewhat ironic because historically, Map 3 has been our Achilles' heel. Despite this, we faced opponents that were fortunately easier to handle, allowing us to maintain our momentum and secure those wins. It was a strong start that bolstered our confidence as we moved forward in the competition. Following our strong start, we encountered a setback with 2 losses against a formidable team in Map 3, bringing our total to 5 consecutive Map 3 matches. Statistically speaking, the chances of this sequence happening were incredibly low—approximately 0.004%—highlighting the challenge we faced. After our setbacks, we bounced back with two strong wins in games 6 and 7, both of which were not on Map 3 but rather on Maps 1 and 2 against easier opponents. We secured these victories comfortably, pushing our total points to over 3000. At this stage, if we play cautiously, five of us are already in the top 600 rankings. Unfortunately, Potank, our Saint, is sitting at 3002 points and may not make it into the top 600. With 3 games remaining and about an hour left, we find ourselves at a crossroads. Currently, five of us are positioned between 450-550, with one person potentially unable to make the cutoff. It's a gamble—we could play it safe since if most matches are on Maps 1 and 2, we have a good shot at securing our positions. However, there's the lingering worry that we might get matched into Map 3, which historically has been challenging for us. On the other hand, even if we lose a game, we still have two more chances to win and improve our standings. The decision hinges on balancing risk and opportunity, weighing the potential reward of securing top positions against the risk of encountering Map 3 difficulties. So, we entered game 8 and unsurprisingly, we got Map 3 again. And this time, we're facing a strong team led by Makotar. We can already predict the outcome—it's likely we'll lose this match. With no other option, we went back into play, determined to recover from being thrown out of the top 600 positions. Fortunately, we got Map 2, and we won that game, which was a much-needed victory for us. With 30 minutes left and one game remaining, we found ourselves in the same position: five of us within the top 600 and one just outside. At that moment, we made the decision: go big or go home...

NoiaJr's Journey in the Magic Prison Tournament on Ragnarok Mobile SEA (Week 2nd)

Week 2 Review Here's our plan for week two: we're shaking things up with a new lineup. We found out pretty quickly that Doram just isn't cutting it as our main DPS, and Rathgricy doesn't bring much to the table in a roaming role. So, we're going with a different approach this week: - I'll be playing as Thor. - Nic will take on the role of Jormungand. - Henlee is stepping in as a second Thor. - Attica will be our Hela holder. - Arisa will handle the Saint role. - Ichwan will be our Soulbinder. Now, I know this isn't the most balanced lineup, and we're definitely leaning heavily on elemental damage. Thor, as you know, uses forced wind elemental attacks, and Jormungand is mostly about fire and earth elements. The upside? Having two Thors means we get double the crowd control. Their thunder attacks are pretty awesome for locking down enemies, which gives us a nice edge in battles. Sure, it might seem risky to depend so much on elemental damage, but I think the benefits outweigh the drawbacks. The double Thor setup is going to give us some serious power with their thunder attacks, and I'm excited to see how this plays out.  And for once, things are working in our favor! We got a really good matchup this week, and our double Thor lineup is paying off big time. We performed exceptionally well on Map 2 and Map 1, where Thor's abilities really shine. With two Thors, we have double the "cling" for crowd control, which lets us trap the enemy DPS in a lockdown position most of the time. This strategy allows us to dominate and control the middle areas in both maps. We ended the week with a solid 8-2 record. Our only losses came against teams that used Beggetter as their holder and roamer job, which gave them an edge. But overall, I'm really happy with how things turned out this week! However, we still have some persistent issues to address. One major problem is Arisa's weaknesses. Despite our efforts to strengthen her, she remains quite squishy, even when she's not carrying the ball. This makes her an easy target for enemy DPS players, who often bully her and create significant challenges for us. We need to find a way to better protect her and ensure she can contribute more effectively without being taken down so easily. Another issue is our communication, particularly with Henlee. Although we've been speaking more in Bahasa than English to help him feel more comfortable, Henlee is naturally a very reserved guy. He tends to stay silent and tries to handle everything on his own without reaching out for assistance. This approach can be problematic in a team-based game where communication and coordination are crucial. We need to encourage Henlee to communicate more and not hesitate to ask for help when needed. We all need to be on the same page to tackle challenges effectively and support each other. These two issues—Arisa's vulnerability and Henlee's communication—are our main focus as we prepare for week three. We'll work on strategies to better protect Arisa and improve her resilience in fights. At the same time, we'll continue encouraging Henlee to speak up and coordinate with the team. By addressing these problems head-on, we're hoping to strengthen our overall performance and come out even stronger in the upcoming matches.

NoiaJr's Journey in the Magic Prison Tournament on Ragnarok Mobile SEA (Week 1st)

Week 1 Report : Week one was a bit of a whirlwind for our team, but we managed to start on a high note by clinching victories against two other casual teams. It felt great to see our hard work pay off right from the get-go. Our lineup is a mix of familiar faces and practiced roles: Thor and Nic Jormund leading the charge as our main damage dealers, Maocetung Rath adding versatility and support as our roamer, and Attica Hela and Arisa Saint holding down the fort with their defensive prowess.  Starting off with two wins in the first two games is always a great feeling, but upon closer inspection, I noticed a slight imbalance between my DPS and Nic's DPS. As the main DPS, Nic and I should ideally be sharing the kills, with the numbers balanced between us. It's normal to have a few double-digit kills, but it becomes concerning when one side is dominating in kills while the other isn't performing as well. Achieving a more even distribution of kills would help ensure a fairer and more effective gameplay experience for everyone on the team. The real test began when personal errands forced Attica to leave early, leaving us with the task of completing the remaining 10 games for week one. Since there were no penalties for losing in week one, it was crucial to finish all the matches. This meant queuing up faster to accommodate Attica's schedule. However, we encountered another challenge: running into some formidable opponents, including legendary teams, during our matches. Despite our efforts, we ended up losing to these teams due to differences in character strengths and team coordination. Additionally, we faced two winnable games where our team's imbalance became apparent, resulting in losses. This experience highlighted areas for improvement as we moved forward. We needed to address issues such as team balance and coordination to ensure better performance in future matches. Despite the setbacks, it's all part of the learning process, and we're determined to make the necessary adjustments for a stronger showing in the upcoming weeks. During the games, we found ourselves making lineup switches midway through. Nic switched from Jorm to his Doram, and Attica changed from Hela to an Elf. Ideally, such switches shouldn't happen as they indicate uncertainty about our team's capabilities, which isn't ideal. It's a sign that we need to address this issue promptly for the second week. We realized the importance of having a solid lineup prepared to face any opponents. Doubt crept in as we faced losses, but it's crucial to maintain confidence in our abilities. While it's understandable to doubt ourselves when losing, it's essential to have a strong mentality to overcome challenges. One thing to note is that we didn't lose against fellow casual players or those ranked in the top 300. Our defeats came against teams ranked between 50 to 100, who likely have their strategies and lineups well-established. Nevertheless, these losses still affected our mentality. Mental strength is crucial in such situations. Losing against teams who have perfected their strategies and are top-ranked leaves little room for adjustment. However, if we lose against lower-ranked or similarly-ranked teams, it signals issues within our own team that need addressing. Moving forward, we're focused on fixing these issues and strengthening our mentality. It's about learning from losses and using them as opportunities for growth, ensuring we're better prepared for the challenges ahead in the upcoming weeks. It sounds like week one was a valuable learning experience for us, and we're committed to making improvements for week two. We've identified areas that need fixing and will work hard to ensure a better outcome this time around. Here's hoping things will turn in our favor this week. That's all for now. Ciao!

This journal is intended solely for personal reflection and expression. Its contents may not necessarily represent objective realities or conditions, and are influenced by subjective perspectives and emotions. Readers are advised to interpret its contents with discretion and awareness of its subjective nature. Background : I never considered myself a highly skilled player. My last Magic Prison season, which I completed by myself, was about 1.5 years ago. I used to play with friends from Surabaya and Balikpapan, but due to internal issues, our team eventually disbanded. Booby Moonzie retired to focus on real life, Ko Vito did the same to grow his insurance business, and Fusan lost his spirit to play without Ko Bobby's guidance. Aquilegila remained cheerful as ever but transitioned to being a casual player.  I almost forgot to mention Ichwan. He's still competitive, managing several accounts including Fusan's, but he received an offer to pilot for the Ahn family team. This left me searching for a new team. Although I received several offers, I struggled to find time to play. The Magic Prison schedule on Saturdays in Indonesia, where a 6-day workweek is common, added to my difficulties. My wife usually wanted us to go out on Saturdays, making it impossible for me to play Ragnarok and participate in the MP competition with a muted Discord. It wouldn't have been fair to my team if I couldn't fully commit. That's why I turned to Stan Pilot's service, which provided both piloting and guidance on how to properly participate in MP, build a team, and develop my character according to my job. Over almost three or four seasons, I learned a lot from him and his team. Fast forward to April 2024: I honestly missed the thrill of playing MP. Watching Stan's team finish as the runner-up reignited my old competitive spirit. However, real-life commitments, work, and my wife still hinder my ability to fully dive back into competitive play. Still, I wanted to participate. So, I decided to play casually this time, aiming for a relaxed top 600 position while maintaining points for future reference. My plan was to build a decent, not overly competitive team to achieve this goal, focusing on having fun with minimal effort. With proper communication, team building, and some light practice, I believe our experience will help us secure a spot in the top 600.
