Week 2 Review

Here's our plan for week two: we're shaking things up with a new lineup. We found out pretty quickly that Doram just isn't cutting it as our main DPS, and Rathgricy doesn't bring much to the table in a roaming role. So, we're going with a different approach this week:

- I'll be playing as Thor.

- Nic will take on the role of Jormungand.

- Henlee is stepping in as a second Thor.

- Attica will be our Hela holder.

- Arisa will handle the Saint role.

- Ichwan will be our Soulbinder.



Now, I know this isn't the most balanced lineup, and we're definitely leaning heavily on elemental damage. Thor, as you know, uses forced wind elemental attacks, and Jormungand is mostly about fire and earth elements. The upside? Having two Thors means we get double the crowd control. Their thunder attacks are pretty awesome for locking down enemies, which gives us a nice edge in battles.

Sure, it might seem risky to depend so much on elemental damage, but I think the benefits outweigh the drawbacks. The double Thor setup is going to give us some serious power with their thunder attacks, and I'm excited to see how this plays out. 

And for once, things are working in our favor! We got a really good matchup this week, and our double Thor lineup is paying off big time. We performed exceptionally well on Map 2 and Map 1, where Thor's abilities really shine. With two Thors, we have double the "cling" for crowd control, which lets us trap the enemy DPS in a lockdown position most of the time. This strategy allows us to dominate and control the middle areas in both maps.

We ended the week with a solid 8-2 record. Our only losses came against teams that used Beggetter as their holder and roamer job, which gave them an edge. But overall, I'm really happy with how things turned out this week!

However, we still have some persistent issues to address. One major problem is Arisa's weaknesses. Despite our efforts to strengthen her, she remains quite squishy, even when she's not carrying the ball. This makes her an easy target for enemy DPS players, who often bully her and create significant challenges for us. We need to find a way to better protect her and ensure she can contribute more effectively without being taken down so easily.

Another issue is our communication, particularly with Henlee. Although we've been speaking more in Bahasa than English to help him feel more comfortable, Henlee is naturally a very reserved guy. He tends to stay silent and tries to handle everything on his own without reaching out for assistance. This approach can be problematic in a team-based game where communication and coordination are crucial. We need to encourage Henlee to communicate more and not hesitate to ask for help when needed. We all need to be on the same page to tackle challenges effectively and support each other.

These two issues—Arisa's vulnerability and Henlee's communication—are our main focus as we prepare for week three. We'll work on strategies to better protect Arisa and improve her resilience in fights. At the same time, we'll continue encouraging Henlee to speak up and coordinate with the team. By addressing these problems head-on, we're hoping to strengthen our overall performance and come out even stronger in the upcoming matches.





The Departure of Arisa The Saint


Our main focus, of course, is on Arisa. In week two, we discovered that she probably contracted COVID from work, which has significantly impacted her ability to play well. This issue is still lingering as we prepare for week three, and it’s a major concern for all of us.

I’m particularly worried about her well-being because health is the most important thing. No event or match can ever top the importance of being healthy. As a team, we need to support her and ensure she takes the time she needs to recover fully. It's not just about the game; it's about making sure she’s okay.

So, while we're strategizing and gearing up for the next week, we're also keeping Arisa's health at the forefront of our minds. We may need to adjust our lineup or find ways to support her better in-game, but the priority is her well-being. If she needs to take a break to recover, we fully support that decision. In the meantime, we'll do our best to adapt and continue improving as a team.

However, talking about subbing a player in the middle of a competition is tricky. Personally, I hate the idea of changing members mid-fight, especially since Arisa's role is so crucial. Without her playing at full capacity—which, to be frank, hasn't been nearly enough due to her illness—it's really detrimental to our team's performance.

Attica and I have been brainstorming solutions for this issue. We have a support friend who isn't currently playing and has offered to help by piloting Arisa's account, with her approval, of course. I think this is our best solution. We don't need to change any team members; we only need a temporary pilot for week three, and possibly week four as well. This way, the team lineup remains the same, Arisa can take the time she needs to rest and recover, and everyone benefits.

It's a simple solution that addresses the immediate problem without disrupting the team's dynamics. Our support friend can step in, Arisa can focus on getting better, and we can continue competing without a significant drop in performance. This way, everyone wins, and we can keep moving forward as a strong, cohesive unit.

Of course, this will only happen if Arisa agrees. If she doesn't feel comfortable letting someone else play her account, we'll stick with our current situation. I brought this solution to the team, and everyone agreed on it. They were just concerned that it might offend Arisa, as a pilot change could be seen as doubting her skills.

After discussing it with the team, I PMed Arisa to offer her a "solution" for her condition. I explained everything clearly and emphasized that this would only happen if she was okay with it. I assured her that if she wasn't comfortable with the idea, we would continue as we are and face whatever challenges come our way together. Her health and comfort are the most important factors here, and we respect whatever decision she makes.

Arisa didn't take the suggestion very well. Her first response was that she wasn't comfortable sharing her account with someone else. Then, she said it was okay for us to kick her out of the team if we wanted to. In my mind, I was like, WTF? I clearly said this would only happen if Arisa agreed, and if not, we’d continue as usual. 

I think it’s important to reassure her and clear up any misunderstandings. Here’s what I plan to say:

I’m really sorry if my message upset you. That wasn’t my intention at all. I want to make it absolutely clear that we’re not looking to kick you out of the team or doubt your skills in any way. Your health and comfort are our top priorities.

The idea of having someone pilot your account was just a suggestion to help you rest and recover without feeling the pressure of playing while you're unwell. But if you're not comfortable with it, that's totally fine. We’ll continue as we are and face any challenges together, as a team. Your place in this team is important, and we support whatever decision you make.

Please take care and let us know how you're feeling. We're here for you.

Before I even pressed enter to send the message, Arisa suddenly left the team and closed the conversation. Well, that didn't go well. To be honest, this pissed me off quite a bit. This is one aspect of dealing with people that I still don't fully understand, and maybe never will. But it means our team is now missing a Saint, and we need to find a substitute player ASAP.

I talked to the team, and we moved quickly. Fortunately, within about an hour, thanks to Enjo and Attica, we found a substitute player to play Saint. His name is POTANK (not to be confused with Rodtank). He’s a Filipino player, an experienced support player, and a member of Hideout. We're very glad that he agreed to join. This, to be frank, is a fast and effective solution to our weakness in the Saint role.

We’re relieved to have POTANK on board. With his experience and skills, we believe he will be a great asset to the team. Now we can focus on preparing for the next matches and continue to improve our overall performance. Thanks to the quick action and teamwork, we’ve managed to turn a difficult situation around.

Jormund Nic To Fenrir Nic 

Jormund remains an incredibly powerful character in ROM, especially in this season's MP. In snake form, it's a mass killer, and in human form, it's one of the best CC hitters around. With certain gacha items that can effectively freeze enemies in an unbreakable CC state, Jormund players are wreaking havoc in the competition. Pairing Jormund with Thor is considered the ultimate combination for this season's MP.

However, our current issue lies in the fact that Nic's playstyle doesn't quite align with playing Jormund effectively. Some of my friends have pointed out that playing Jormund can be challenging; it really needs to match the player's individual playstyle to be super effective. 

Finding the right synergy between player and character is crucial in maximizing Jormund's potential. Despite its overwhelming strength, if it doesn't mesh well with the player's style, it can be difficult to fully utilize its capabilities. This is definitely something we need to address moving forward to ensure we're making the most out of our team composition.

Jormund does have its weaknesses, particularly its vulnerability to ambushes and its susceptibility to being countered by the Elf's Camouflage skill, which can block its AA attacks. Essentially, Elves are the main counter to Jormund. While Elves may not necessarily kill Jormund outright, they can make its life a living hell, as Nic has experienced firsthand.

To address this issue, I suggested that Nic try playing Fenrir instead. Fenrir is the newest job in ROM and serves as a physical mirror of Jormund. Unlike Jormund, Fenrir places more emphasis on survivability and deals physical ranged damage. Additionally, Fenrir can also CC enemies using a tomb chain.

By switching to Fenrir, Nic might find it easier to play and feel less pressured compared to when he's playing as Jormund. Fenrir's focus on survivability could help mitigate some of the challenges Nic faces, allowing him to contribute more effectively to the team's success.

Switching to Fenrir does present a new challenge for our team since we'll be lacking a magical hitter in our lineup. With everyone focused on physical and long-range attacks, we might struggle against teams with high physical resistance or those that can effectively counter our playstyle. 

However, there are some positives to consider. One advantage of Fenrir is that it isn't elementally locked with an elemental barrier like Jormund. This means Fenrir could potentially have an edge in situations where elemental barriers play a significant role, giving us more flexibility in our strategies.



To address the lack of a magical hitter, we'll need to adjust our team composition and tactics accordingly. We might need to rely more on physical damage dealers and prioritize targets based on their vulnerabilities. Additionally, communication and coordination will be key in maximizing our team's effectiveness despite the change in lineup.

While there are challenges to overcome, I believe that with careful planning and teamwork, we can adapt to Fenrir's playstyle and continue to perform well in competitions.

Henlee Mao Thor back to Rathgricy


Addressing the problem with Henlee isn't straightforward because it's essentially about his personal preferences and comfort level. We can't force him to change his behavior to fit our team's needs. From what I know personally, Henlee is genuinely making an effort, and that's admirable. He's someone you can rely on, always striving to give his best for others and never wanting to disappoint.

Understanding that Henlee is trying his best, we need to approach this situation with empathy and patience. It's important to communicate openly with him, expressing our appreciation for his efforts while also discussing how improved communication could benefit the team as a whole. By highlighting the positive impact his involvement could have on our performance, we might be able to encourage him to become more active in communication without making him feel pressured or uncomfortable.

It seems like the 2 Thor formation isn't cutting it, especially against higher-tier enemies that we'll be facing in weeks 3 and 4. We need more variety in our lineup to adapt to different situations and accommodate Henlee's strengths, despite his communication issues. After discussing our options, we've decided to switch Henlee's job back to Rath instead of Thor.

Rath offers more survivability compared to Thor, which is crucial when facing tough opponents. Thor's dependence on Faith Pray from the Saint role is well-covered with POTANK handling that responsibility now. Having a second Thor without adequate protection was proving to be too challenging for Henlee, especially against high-level opponents aiming for the 3000-point target.

By switching Henlee's job to Rath, we're aiming to balance our lineup better and give him a role where he can excel while still contributing effectively to the team's success. This decision should help us perform better in the upcoming matches and face the challenges ahead with more confidence, Hopefully. Thanks to Ichwan also, we have time to fixed Henlee account.
