Ultimate Ninja Storm 4 has naturally been one of my favorite games this year. I’m a huge fan of the Naruto anime series, so I’ve really enjoyed relishing every single bit of this game. Not only is it accurate to the anime, but the combat is actually pretty intense and complex too. There are over a hundred characters to choose from and play, as well as multiple maps to fight on. Not to mention that there are also different game modes too like tournament, survival, and versus. And even if you get tired of playing against your friends, Ultimate Ninja Storm 4 features a story mode for you to embark on an adventure into the Naruto universe.

After playing Naruto Shippuden: Ultimate Ninja Storm 4, Injustice 2 was the next fighting game that I played and oh golly was it freakin’ awesome. If you’ve watched or read anything from DC Comics, Injustice 2 had it all. It had iconic characters such as Batman, Superman, and Flash, as well as many locations like Gotham City and Atlantis that I’ve grown to remember from childhood TV shows. The combat is thrilling too and each character features their own playstyle and abilities to spice up gameplay. Add in different game modes and even a campaign to follow and Injustice 2 has everything both an experienced player or a fighting newbie like me could enjoy.

I played and reviewed Flash Party this year and really liked the game. It’s a multi-platform fighting game that’s available on mobile and PC that’s similar to Super Smash Bros. in the way it’s designed. However, the characters and maps are different and the combat feels a little more fast-paced. Oh, and you need to unlock characters with in-game currency to play them too. That said, the greatest part of Flash Party is that it’s free-to-play and still feels really fun which is pretty unique compared to other fighting games. This game has kept me entertained for weeks and when I'm not playing these other titles, I'm probably clashing it out in Flash Party.

It would be a sin not to include Mortal Kombat 11. I don’t have much experience in the genre, but even I know that the Mortal Kombat series is the greatest of all time. There are a bunch of different characters, modes, and purchasable DLCs to freshen up gameplay. But if there’s anything that Mortal Kombat does so well that no other title does better, it’s brutality. After playing for many hours and severing heads and dismembering characters, Mortal Kombat 11 has been one of my all-time favorites to play because of how gruesome combat can be. There’s something sadistic yet enjoyable about performing fatal combos and brutal finishers that only Mortal Kombat 11 brings to the table in the genre. If you love a bloody fight, then Mortal Kombat 11 is the perfect game to play.

Brawlhalla is a free-to-play cross-platform fighting game that’s entertaining and filled with over fifty different characters locked behind paywalls. If you like Super Smash Bros. Ultimate and want something a little more fast-paced then Brawlhalla is the answer. It takes on a more cartoonish, bobblehead-like visual style and there are various modes like free-for-all and the casual one-versus-one to enjoy. I couldn’t keep up with Brawlhalla, but for those that enjoy the thrill of an electric fight, this game is one to try.
