Metal Mind is a rogue-like shooter where you play as a bot and kill other bots.
๐จ Graphics: The sci-fi pixel art is breathtaking. The best part of the game, imo. After clearing a wave, I made sure to take a proper look before moving on. The enemy bots look OK. Bosses look good. Also, there's a statue of a goddess that is just ๐.
๐น๏ธ Controls: You can move with the left stick, and beside it, there's a button to turn the auto aim on. On the right-hand side, you can switch between two weapons. You also have a shoe button to dash away if you are surrounded. There's also an overheat 5s cooldown, which you have to take into account. You shoot, run around a little, and shoot again so you don't overheat. Using the shoe to escape makes you overheat quickly. Use it only if it's absolutely necessary.
๐ฎ Gameplay: The enemies are diverse. Some shoot lasers in a triangular pattern, some snipe from the other part of the map, and some shoot all around them after charging up. The traps also have different mechanics. Some attack in a circular area, and some are straight laser beams. You can collect loot after defeating all the enemies in a wave. After every few waves, you are given the option to boost one of the three stats provided. If you don't like the options, you can refresh them by watching an ad. If you die, you can revive by watching an ad.
๐คผ Combat Mechanics: After clearing a wave, not only do you get loot but also body parts. You can swap them to make yourself stronger.
Some guns shoot rapidly but lack power. They are good to take out the small bots. Some have a high power output but shoot slowly. Also, some bounce off walls. You can shoot at crazy angles while running around.
๐ฉ Loot System: I have already mentioned that you get loot after clearing a wave, but that's not all. There's also a wave where you have to kill bots that are after your loot. You have to simultaneously kill them and also make sure one of them doesn't steal your loot.
๐๏ธ Progression System: Red coins are needed to enhance your skills in the skill tree. You can increase your MOV SPD, ATK SPD, damage output, defense, etc. It will take a lot of time as there are so many tiers to the stats above.

Although I am not a fan of roguelike games, I have played a few and found Metal Mind to be enjoyable.

I enjoy listening to the background music, Cooling Down Heat sound effect, teleport sound effect, gun sound, but I would appreciate an additional audio cue to indicate when I am hit by enemy damage. This would help me to be more aware of my health and take evasive action as needed.

SHOULD I PLAY METAL MIND?
Play it. Metal Mind is a sci-fi roguelite dungeon crawler about robots fighting other robots. This solid game may not do anything revolutionary, but it provides an approachable, entertaining dive into a genre that can often be intimidating.
TIME PLAYED
I played Metal Mind for three hours. Iโve beaten six bosses and traveled through three different biome across fifteen-plus runs. The length of each run varied wildly depending on my success; some ended with death within five minutes, while my best run went for nearly an hour.
