9 Years Of Shadow - A Gorgeous Indie Metroidvania

My review of 9 Years of Shadows for the PC. A solid metroidvania with fun abilities, creative ideas and memorable boss fights, but it has some technical issues here and there! I tried to keep it as short as possible, but hopefully you will still get the full picture. Enjoy! NAME: Nine Years of Shadows PLATFORM: NINTENDO SWITCH, PC PUBLISHER: Freedom Games Nine Years of Shadows, the latest 2D metroidvania offering from Halberd Studios and published by Freedom Games, takes players on an immersive journey through the mechanical fortress of Talos. Released on PC and Nintendo switch, the game introduces us to Europa, a young warrior, and her spectral companion, Apino. Together, they aim to restore color and life to a world overshadowed by darkness.

PLAY IT OR SKIP IT? Play it. 9 Years of Shadows is a compelling action-adventure platformer that has some of the best visuals I’ve seen from the genre. It looks good enough to bring up positive comparisons to some of the most stunning games in the genre, such as Hollow Knight and Dead Cells. Add in intuitive, fast-paced combat and fantastic music, and 9 Years of Shadows is one game that shouldn’t be missed.
