Play It, especially If you like retro graphics, buried treasure, and power tools. Pepper Grinder is a great (and great-looking) pixelated platformer. I had a blast drilling through bedrock, spinning through enemies, and looking for treasure in this short but sweet demo.
TIME PLAYED
I sank around an hour into Pepper Grinder. The demo only features a few levels, but it still showed off what the game was all about. I learned all the basic mechanics, was introduced to the story, and most importantly, got to spend plenty of time drilling!
WHAT’S AWESOME ABOUT PEPPER GRINDER?
• The simple setup. The narrative in Pepper Grinder is straightforward, but it was enough to get me into the plot. Pepper is a seafaring pirate who has been shipwrecked and robbed of her treasure. My mission was to get it back. Nothing overly inflated or unnecessary; it was as simple as that. After a brief introductory cutscene, Pepper Grinder got me right into drilling for treasure.
• Using a giant drill. Digging into the terrain with an enormous power tool is awesome. There are so few games where drilling mechanics are highlighted; Pepper Grinder put the fun and force of a massive drill right into my hands. I enjoyed testing out the different things I could drill into. Boosting from a dirt mound while breaking into a wall to reveal some hidden treasure felt incredibly satisfying.
• Lots of different enemies. One of the best things about Pepper Grinder is the ability to ram my drill into everything, especially bad guys. The game’s enemies are varied in their design. Sometimes I could drill right into them, while others required me to dig into the ground and attack them from below, or even come in from above.
• Lovely pixel-art graphics. Pepper Grinder is filled with colorful environments ranging from caves to canyons. It’s not just the elements I could interact with that looked good either. The water, trees, and sky all came together to form a vibrant world, and one that ran smooth as butter even on my older laptop.
WHAT NEEDS IMPROVEMENT IN PEPPER GRINDER?
• Sound issues. While I played Pepper Grinder, the sound kept fading in and out continuously. I don’t know if this was the demo itself or a problem with my computer, but no matter what setting I attempted to adjust, the sound on the demo was never crisp.
I've been waiting for this to pop for a year! Was supposed to come out last year but nooooooo! I wonder how long now before this will actually be released???

FINALLY came out, and it's everything I hoped it would be! Great fun mechanics and addicting gameplay! It may be a bit short, but I'd rather want more than feel like they ran outta ideas! I'm loving this right now. A sleeper bit IMO! 👍
