Hey There! If you're looking for a new JRPG to check out, look no further- since I'll be covering  Sabotage Studios, Sea Of Stars.  As it currently stands, I'm still not entirely done- having only plunged some 22 hours into the journey (with a colleague having taken around 37 to clear their review copy, albeit at a relaxed pace). That said, I still feel I've gotten a good enough look at what it has in store - so, let's dive right into it, shall we?

2023 By Far have been one of the best years in gaming history. This year alone we had some amazing releases and multiple contenders for game of the year from the massive sequel to Breath Of the Wild, Tear of the kingdom, Alan Wake 2 and super mario wonder and even the actual winner of the game awards Baldurs Gate 3. We even had other big releases like Resident Evil 4 remake and Final Fantasy 16 but this list i want to shine a spotlight on how great indie developers are and seeing these massive adventures built by smaller teams and some of them may be hidden gems to most of you. So proceeding with my first game on this list and by far my personal game of the year is Sea Of Stars….

Sea of Stars is a game that wears its influences on its sleeve. The battle system blends the timed hit system of Super Mario RPG with the team tech attacks from Chrono Trigger. Some boss sprites and attacks look like they came straight out of Final Fantasy. The entire game is littered with references to Super Nintendo classics, like Secret of Evermore and Breath of Fire. But even though Sea of Stars pays homage to RPGs of the past, it still manages to feel fresh and new.

SHOULD I PLAY SEA OF STARS? If you have fond memories of classic 90s RPGs like Chrono Trigger and Lunar: Silver Star Story, you won’t want to miss this one. Sea of Stars captures the magic of games of the past, but it never comes across as a clone or retread. Playing through it has made me extremely nostalgic; even though I’m experiencing it for the first time, it feels like I’m coming back to a beloved game from my childhood. The awards ceremony have finished and i had sea of stars being my personal favorite GOTY. It pulled ahead of the competition and delivered players a beautiful experience and grew to be the best indie game of the year. Summary: It tells the story of two Children of the Solstice who will combine the powers of the sun and moon to perform Eclipse Magic, the only force capable of fending off the monstrous creations of the evil alchemist known as The Fleshmancer. Verdict: Sea of Stars is another nomination for GOTY, along with Chained Echoes. The past few years gaming has been Cluttered with live service games and even battle pass as time went on players felt the gaming industry has gone stale. This time around in 2023 in my opinion this has been Overall One of the best years for gaming. Games like tears of the Kingdom, ff16, Hi-fi rush and now even Baldur's Gate 3 has shown the industry you don't need to always make a live service game. which leads me to to the topic Of This Review, Sea of Stars.
