Generally, the kappa not only possesses otter-like behaviors but can also speak the human language and even take on a human form. In the folklore of the Ainu people, the kappa is depicted as a forgetful creature.
⭐The appearance of Slowpoke combines features from various real animals, such as the otter, hippopotamus, platypus, and giant salamander. Its ability to regenerate its tail might also be inspired by the regenerative ability of a gecko.

Also known as tanuki, raccoon dogs hold significant significance in Japanese folklore. They feature in tales as mischievous tricksters, capable of effortless shape-shifting, including transforming into humans, and even captivating with their melodic songs.
