đŦ Presentation:
Brown Dust 2 is the sequel to Brave Nine that was before known as BrownDust at least that's what I think? So I joined this game with the release of the PC and found it (tldr) to be a pretty pleasant experience and hence downloaded the mobile client as well.
đ Storyline: đĩ Sound:
The story I won't comment much on it since I haven't really dived too deep yet, but one thing it's good at is really making it feel like an actual fantasy anime. The stellar voice acting (fully voice acted) really helps too. As I delve further into this review you'll understand why I think the story not only benefits from it's writing but equally from it's world. You start off with a classic join the adventure guild trope story. Which tbh I wasn't enticed by, but then after completing the small prologue I was put into the story of "traveling girl" as you'll see in the pics. Not sure if it's because I got her as a unit or it just supposed to be like this, but her story so far is very immersive with it's town, and characters you're introduced too and her own little secret. Sure there's good writing but there's also the fact that the world around you is so beautiful like something from the Octopath series. Music is amazing as well! Also, takes you back to traditional final fantasy RPGs, and not to mention the day, and night function just adds up to the rpg experience. Though having played the reverse 1999 cbt I wouldn't say it's on the same level story wise.
đŽ Gameplay: đšī¸ Controls: đ¨ Graphics:
The game has a lot of mechanics but nothing out of the ordinary especially if you're already used to tactical combat, and played the predecessor. Not to say it doesn't have its own special adjustments such as costumes which is the main gacha in this game. Acquiring new costumes gives you new skills to character who you also likely go initially from the gacha standard banner.
đ Pros:
Thankfully the game removes headache of rerolling by just giving you an infinite amount of tries to get the SSR/UR combo you want. The gameplay at first might seem a little daunting for newer players of the genre but as you play you'll soon get accustomed to it and will realize that it shines in it's simplicity (using the helpful guides) while also maintaining a good degree of challenge. Roaming around the world is a great plus especially since they also added teleportation points if you're feeling lazy and an auto navigate button! But with a pretty world like this why would you do that? The daily system is super ez to finish like 5-10mins, and the current 100 day anni makes it the perfect time to jump in. So far it doesn't seem too grindy on the gacha side, though you may have to be mindful how you spend your currency if you wanna get competitive in the rank system. Also, Plus the game has an excellent PC client! Also works on both landscape and Portrait on mobile. So far turning out to be my fav gacha of the year!
đ Cons:
A lot of pop ups to make purchases when you boot the game up and no way to disable it for the day. Combat can be overwhelming for newer players especially if you the kinda who needs tactical games for dummies lol(me). I don't really like horni game but I know it's one of the factors for the gacha community so this con is personal factor, but I'll say this it's not overwhelmingly horny. Not sure how the gacha is but considering there's a ranking system not a direct pvp but like honkai abyss style in a way. The friendliness of the gacha scares me but so far so good. This wasn't an issue for me personally but some may find the basic adventure guild style story trope generic and boring so keep that in mind going in.
đ° Value for Money:
10/10 since it's free to play lol
Gacha tho so far 8/10 too many banners to summon on
Overall rating 4.5/5
Overall (tldr)
It's a great entry in the gacha genre, a much needed one and in my opinion really does a lot of improvements over it's predecessor and certainly in my top gacha list for the year. (Currently the only one I am playing this year) time will tell if it'll top my all time gacha favorite. The easy of playing it and the good variety makes it a certain favorite of mine. Be sure to try it if you can!
