CONSOLE TO MOBILE! How Does Resident Evil Village Play on the New Apple Devices?!

CONSOLE TO MOBILE! How Does Resident Evil Village Play on the New Apple Devices?!

16K View2023-11-03
Released to great acclaim back in 2021, Resident Evil Village extends its horror to iOS mobile devices, capturing the terror for handheld devices with the juice necessary to run it.
That’s right. You better believe you’re gonna need a pretty powerful device to run RE Village properly. It’s a console game that’s still relatively new, making full use of Capcom’s powerful RE Engine.
The touch screen experience was rough but the overall gameplay was honestly great for a phone. And here is why. This mainly stems from the fact that RE Village was NEVER meant to be played with a touch screen. The entire screen is how you observe and traverse the titular village and its environments. It’s how you keep your eyes peeled for secrets and dangers. When your hands take upwards of 25% to 30% of that visual input, it can make the game feel claustrophobic and unintuitive.
Thankfully, RE Village is compatible with a controller, and we honestly think that THAT is the optimal way to play this game and the only way to give Village the justice it deserves on a mobile platform. A controller WILL feel much more comfortable and make the experience more ENJOYABLE.
Past all those porting issues, we’re frankly amazed that the madmen at Capcom even tried porting this beast to mobile devices. The fact that it can potentially run as good as it does is something we would have never predicted.

Resident Evil Village Out for Mobile! How Does It Run? Quick Review
If you ever wanted to play Resident Evil Village on the go, well, now is your chance. The wizards at Capcom have ported RE Village to iOS devices on October 30. The game looks pretty good but that’s going to be heavily dependent on the device you have on hand. Village also features various optimization configurations to allow you to customize your experience as you see fit. As for the gaming experience, it’s pretty uncomfortable. Village is a port and not designed around being played with a touch screen. Your hands take up so much visual space, it can make the game a claustrophobic endeavor.

Resident Evil Village on iPhone: a glimpse into Apple’s gaming future but that future isn’t here yet
Apple is stepping up its game when it comes to, well, games with the iPhone 15. The mobile giant’s gaming ambitions aim to rival even the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X. Console favorites are being adapted for iOS, and Resident Evil Village is the first to be released. This 2021 survival-horror title is now playable on the iPhone 15 Pro and 15 Max, as well as iPads with the M1 or M2 chips. The transition from console to phone isn’t without struggles, though. At the beginning of my time testing Resident Evil Village on iOS, I couldn’t score a single shot at the first enemy I encountered. Every time I touched the on-screen controls, my view would fly into the air and send my bullets careening toward the castle instead of into the heads of these gory bad guys.
