SHOULD I PLAY DUNGEONS 4?
Play it, especially if you love real-time strategy games. Dungeons 4 offers an insanely fun real-time strategy experience that covers the basics that fans like myself have grown to love from games like Age of Empires 2 and Warcraft 3: The Frozen Throne. Its campaign introduces a fresh perspective into the standard formula by making the player the villain instead of the classic hero. This game is all about being absolutely evil, and I loved every second of that wickedness. While ruling over demons and undead monsters does take some time and attention, Dungeons 4 delivers an experience worth sticking with. TIME PLAYED
I played Dungeons 4 for four hours. I’ve gotten through the tutorial, prologue, and three campaign missions, and I’m trying to beat the fourth mission.
WHAT’S AWESOME ABOUT DUNGEONS 4?
• Preparing the perfect warband. Dungeons 4 takes the quintessential gameplay of almost every real-time strategy title and puts its own twist on the formula by making the player the villain instead of the hero in the campaign. In this evil adventure, I got to build bases full of demonic and undead creatures, offering temples, and sacrificial pits, and it felt fantastic. The game challenged me with different devious tasks like murdering a village full of humans or freeing caged beasts, and I enjoyed tactically planning my way through it all.
• Embarking on a whole new adventure. Even though I have never played any previous games in the Dungeons series, I didn't have any problems understanding the story in Dungeons 4. The game does an excellent job of describing past events while expanding on the current story. The narrative feels really well-written. I especially got a kick out of moments in the storyline when the narrator broke the fourth wall and spoke to me, the player, directly.
• Listening to soothing voice-overs. The narrator in Dungeons 4 has one of the most immaculate voices I’ve ever heard in a game. I could literally fall asleep to a bedtime story narrated by this voice actor.
• Seeing magical places. Dungeons 4 features an enchanting world full of vibrant colors and bold shading. Every mission in the campaign has its own unique environment filled with decay and chaos, as well as lush greenery and villages across other parts. The game reminds me of a more polished version of Warcraft 3: Reforged with slight dark fantasy notes. WHAT SUCKS ABOUT DUNGEONS 4?
• It’s a long adventure. I’ve only touched the surface with Dungeons 4 and I know if I continued playing, I’d be here for a long time. Even after four hours of gameplay, I still don’t fully understand everything yet and there’s still so much to discover and learn. This game is one hell of an adventure that requires a lot of attention and time, and if you don’t have any to spare, this game might not be totally enjoyable or worth playing. Then again, if you’re looking for something to lose yourself in for a long time, this might be just what you need.
